I many times do my own airfare, however, there are risks involved, namely, that it takes 'getting you there' out of the hands of the cruise line.If you choose to do so, I'd advise to:1) purchase good travel insurance2) build in plenty of time to arrive for the cruise, even go a day or so early.I did my own air for the Sun Princess in July (Anchorage to Vancouver) and even flying out the day before, we were delayed (I'll never fly thru Chicago again), not arriving until midnight the night before sailing.
