My better half and I are scheduled on the Carribean Princess in June.. We have been to the Princess Cays many times...but somewhere I have heard that there is more to the Island than just the beautiful beach, barbeque and one small shop... somewhere I heard there is much more shopping available on the island. Can someone help? Thank you.

the "princess cays" are on the island of eleuthera...which is about 110 miles long, very thin, usually less than a mile across. it's southeast of nassau. i do not know if one can leave the "cays" atmosphere, as they like to infer that it is a private island. if so and you can leave, you're not far from the small towns on the southern end of eleuthera. governor's harbor is central (about 50 miles) , and extreme north end is fantastic, with ferries to two other bustling islands...but a whole day's trip.
again, i don't know if you can leave what they call "princess cays" while you're there and that is the question. anyone know?

I think you can leave. Seems to me there was more shopping out behind the fencing and a gate with a sign saying something about needing your cruise card with you so you could get back in. The wife went out to look at the stuff and said it looked quite similar to what was offered on the Princess side of the fence.

Yup U can leave as has been mentioned above as long as U have your cruise card. there is a little town about 3 miles down the road we learned about from a nice chat we had with one of the lifeguards during one of our stops and YES U can go there if U wish but there is NOT much there that U can NOT find at the craft setup area outside just outside the gate. BTW just another tidbit .. ... Land is selling for about $200 on the Island if U are handy and looking for a retirement location. :thumb
