Hi- last February my husband and I went on the Carnival Legend- we went on their Panama canal train ride- it was great- the train is very nice-you see a lot as you go across Panama. You go to see the Pacific and then back to the Canal- there is a movie and you generally get to see a boat go through the locks. Then they take you back to the train and you go along the canal back to the boat- The Panama canal is a series of canals connecting existing lakes and rivers. You go on a bus once you get to the west coast of Panama. You see wildlife and country homes from the train as well as the rivers and lakes and from the bus you see the cities. The yachts at the west coast marina we stopped at were amazing. Our next trip is a Princess 15 day cruisetour in Alaska

After researching it we opted for the Coast to Coast tour on a smaller boat thru Princess. This was a Gr8 way to see the canal and to be up and close to it. The train follows the canal but there are areas that they have to detour away from it. Either excursion is a good one so enjoy the Canal. :thumb

I'll agree about the Coast to Coast on the smaller boat, it was outstanding. Really interesting to really see and feel the rising up in the lock.

When I went on the Coral Princess in 2002 on Panama canal cruise, the ocean to ocean was the real highlight of the trip.
After all the canal should be the main reason to go on this cruise. When on the ocean to ocean trip you could almost touch the canal wall, plus we shared the lock with two other ships. Great pictures can be taken on the ocean to ocean !
