I am trying to choose a cruise for this fall. Was thinking about doing the Princess Dawn for the 10 day. I have never done Princess always cruised Celebrity, Carnival, or Royal. My husband is a little worried because we have never done Princess. A little info would help if anyone knows anything. Thank you in advance for your help

You should get lots of responses on this one. Im not certain but I think they did a group cruise, same one you are talking about, from this board last fall....?? Post this question over on the community board as well. Ive been on the Sun, sister to the Dawn, and loved it. Its not as big as the new mega-ships, think its around 70k tons, but nice nonetheless. In my opinion, the itinerary looked great too. If I were picking a 10 or 11 night one, this would definitely be in the running! As far as Princess goes, if you liked RCI then you should like Princess. Ive sailed with them twice, loved each one. Have fun!

Question is a bit broad--do you have specific concerns about selecting Princess?

I have done the Sun Princess and the Dawn Princess which are sister ships. I am also booked again on the Dawn Princess in May. I have also cruised on Celebrity. The Dawn Princess is a very nice ship and Princess does just as good if not a better job as Celebrity in my opinion. The difference is Princess is a more fiendly atmosphere and Celebrity is a more formal atmosphere, in my opinion. They both have great service but I found the Celebrity crew to be all business and to formal for me. Princess crew were more outgoing and friendly even though they did a great job they weren't as stiff and formal.

As far as food that is a personal choice. People brag about Celebrity food and say Princess food is not as good. Celebrity is the only cruise line I have been on where I returned many meals due to poor preperation and due to the taste. I have always had good meals on Princess. Again this is a personal choice I am sure you can find good and bad on both lines.

If you decide to go with Princess I would suggest going with an open mind and just enjoy what you find to be the good things onboard and don't waste your time comparing the cruise lines until you are back home. You might as well enjoy the little time you get on a cruise instead of worrying about what may be different between the cruise lines.

We've sailed on the Dawn twice and would go again if the right itinerary presented itself. The Dawn is a beautiful ship and we thoroughly enjoyed both cruises. While I've got my soapbox out I have to say that I feel that cruise ships are a lot like weddings--I've never been to one that I did not enjoy. Both are full of happy people (ok, ok, and some wacky people, too), both are geared toward food, fun, and celebration. And on a cruise ship, you don't have to buy a present!!

We loved the Dawn. Did the 10 day southern carib. out of San Juan. Wonderful ports. We had an aft minisuite and thought the service all around was great. We thought the food was good, but not great. We hope to do her again in the future.

Actually I am looking for info also on the Dawn.
Booked on 10 day in Jan 05 and have been reading various cabin selections vs a suite. Booked the Balcony on Riviera deck as close to pool etc which I feel would suit me to a tee. Now Wife has not been on a ship before so uncertain re-movement and size.
Anyone have imput if a good choice or should I spoil the wife and book mini suite.

We sailed on the Dawn Princess through the Panama Canal in October and had a really great time. We usually sail on the smaller ships in the Princess fleet but did not feel the least bit uncomfortable on the Dawn. Now we're headed to meet up with the Star Princess.

My wife and I are thinking of getting an aft mini suite on the Sun or Dawn. Did you get much vibration from the engines back there?
