Wow, careful of repositioning cruises......We took the reposition cruise from LA to Vancouver to see what Princess lines are like. The Diamond was spectacular and big. Love the wood, marble and tables can be moved in the lounge unlike Carnival which has everything bolted down. The mini suite absolutely great, mattress sucked. The covered pool was a great idea since it was overcast and cold.
Now for the unbearable parts, the Poker tournament was a disaster with the casino manger clueless.
The dinner food was cold, bland (I got the menu again to make sure the soup was supposed to be hot) and the waiters barely spoke English..........service was just plain bad.
It seemed like no bartenders were to be found....and not allot of smiling staff
The bill was converted from American funds to Canadian and a 10% charge was added for doing this and then billed to my credit card (This I am fighting) All in all I would take Carnival for the food, entertainment and just plain fun

I am sorry your cruise was not everything you hoped it would be. It sent me back to read my review of our repositioning cruise last September. While we had a great time and really loved the staff it appears this repositioning cruise was not one of my favourites as far as food went! :grin http://www.cruise-addicts.com/forums/read.php?1,1242293,1242293#msg-1242293 The part about the cruise line making the exchange on your credit card, in my opinion, is unforgivable. I have heard of Princess doing this to other cruisers but thankfully it has not happened to me...yet!!!! Did you check the box on your documents indicating that you did not want them to be making the exchange for you?

The Diamond is still my favourite of all the ships I have sailed!

And I'm wondering where you ate that was so terrible. Was it the traditional dining room?

I say this because I was on the SAME cruise, and had a wonderful time. I thought my food was good, my waitstaff was good nearly all of the time, and I enjoyed it throughly.

I AGREE that the poker tournament was terrible, but that was actually the fault of Carnival Corporation's "Ocean Player's Club", which runs all casinos on ships owned by Carnival Corp, and not Princess themselves anymore. It was a special tournament on our cruise and I will be sure to avoid those in the future.

And even though I love Princess, Carnival is nice too, so go with the one that makes you happy! I sail on all types!

Cheers!
