Princess EZ-Check

Disembarked the Coral Princess this past Monday (8/4). We used Princess EZ-Check and it was fantastic and a great time saver and stress reliever. For $16 they handled getting our boarding passes and airline baggage tags. When we put out our bags on the last night, it was taken and we didn't see it until we landed at Dulles. Plus in Vancouver, they took us in a separate customs/security area (we were never officially in Canada). It avoided the main terminal totally. I heard people who were coming to the plan (after waiting several hours in lines in the main terminal) that they'd have done it if it didn't cost! Also used this in San Diego last October and it was great!

Re: Princess EZ-Check

The EZ-Check sounds great. How would they handle baggage that goes over the weight limit?
When you arrived at the airport all you had to do is go through security and on to the gate?
NOT standing in line to check my bags at FLL is totally worth the extra money.

Re: Princess EZ-Check

Yup, you just went to the airport and thru security.

As for overweight limit, seems that this by-passes it as it does the baggage charges that some airlines are now incurring.

In Alaska, we were not charged for the 2nd bag and when I picked up the luggage, one of the bags had a 'heavy' on it, but no charges

Re: Princess EZ-Check

This sounds like a GREAT service...unfortunately it wasn't offered on my recent Princess cruises 'cause I'd sure take advantage of it :thumb

Only available if you let them book your air, yes? I book my own air.

We were on the Island in Alaska a couple of weeks ago and Princess offered this to us when we were on board. We booked our own air but did book the Princess bus transfers from the ship to the airport. Might have offered it to us because of the transfers??? We didn't use it because of the fear of having our luggage disappear somewhere in the transition and not knowing who to go after about it.....

Re: Princess EZ-Check

Yeah, I have that same fear....I want to see my bags get checked in by the curb side skycaps. I even check the tags after they do it...especially with connections, to make sure no errors. I learned that lesson. Convenient, absolutely! Worth missing my bags...nah. As far as overlimit, they told me last cruise, one bag as 54 lbs (like another $100)...I gave him $10 and said now how much does it weigh? He said 50 lbs. Ha.

Had nothing to do with whether or not you booked their air, but you did have to have transfers.

Re: Princess EZ-Check

I'm glad it was easy for you John but as many cruises you take the odds are not with you. I didn't even like the fact when we got off the ship in Vancouver that our bags were all ready on the bus. We didn't see them until SEA and if one was lost there would be no recovery prior to our flight that afternoon. I am glad it worked for you.....

Re: Princess EZ-Check

When I was living in Palm Beach County, I would take Cruise Connection down to the ship. Once as the driver was making his "rounds" to all the ships, I watched him take off bags for an entirely different line. I banged on the window, he didn't hear me. If I hadn't gone out and told him WRONG BOAT BABY - those poor people would never have known what happened to their luggage, as the ship's crew were already taking it away. I for one, have no intention of ever going through a cruise wearing logo t-shirts and rented clothes, so I err on the side of caution!;)

Re: Princess EZ-Check

My husband and I used the Princess EZ-Check out of Vancouver and did not feel it was worth it. We had to sit on a bus for a long time before let off into the airport. The line was long through customs for those of us using the EZ Check.

My sister-in-law and her husband were on the same cruise with us and they signed up for the EZ-Check, but Princess messed up and they were not able to use the EZ-Check. WELL, they had their bags checked and went through customs at least an hour before us and we and had the EZ Check!

I would not pay for the $16 per person again...although Princess messed up in our favor and we were only charged once.

Re: Princess EZ-Check

KathyM, I've stood in line in the Vancouver airport for almost 3 hours getting thru Check-In, Security, etc so the EZ check line is much simpler.

Re: Princess EZ-Check

CruiseAholic,
Our experience did not seem simpler in this case. My sister-in-law who did not use the EZ check-in on the very same flight, went through security and baggage much quicker than we did. It could have just been "one of those times" where it took us with the EZ-check longer. I don't know for sure, but in our experience, the EZ check-in was not the better choice for that particular day.
