Princess Mini=suites

The only time I've seen a "fold out" sofa bed is in a full suite. It was a queen-sized bed and very comfortable.

The majority of the minis have a "pop up" single bed (you lay lengthwise on it) and a single twin "pop down" bed from the ceiling with a ladder. The pop-down bed is directly above the single pop-up sofa bed in the minis I've seen.

I can speak for the minisuites on the Princess 'Grand Class' ships. They have a love seat that folds out to be a size between a twin & a double bed.

We've had a mini suite on our last two cruises and both had full couches that let out into full size beds.

ocean.queen - which Grand Class ships are you talking about? Is this something new that they did recently fleet wide? We were on the Grand Princess two years in a row and both times, they had the pop-up single twin bed with the single bed that popped down from the ceiling. :? :?

Lady Jag,

I've been on the Star Princess 3 times and the Golden once....had a mini-suite all 4 times. Three times on Dolphin deck with a loveseat that folds out and once in Emerald 724 that has a loveseat that folds out AND a drop-down twin from the ceiling. A Princess employee told me to look at the brochures with the details of each deck. The Mini-Suites with a black triangle can accommodate a third passenger which is only a sofabed....a red dot can accommodate a third and forth passenger which is a sofabed and a drop down. So far, for me this information has be accurate...I assumed it would ring true for the Grand, also, since the brochure lists it as such. The same employee told me that the new Caribbean would have the same configuration for the mini-suites.

Hmmm.....it must be different on different Grand Class ships then. (I know about the triples and quads being marked in the brochures.) Now that I think of it, the beds are very different on RCI's ships that are in the same class too. Must be whatever they can get their hands on at the time the ship is built. :?

Lady Jag:

We have been on the Grand twice (once just last week) and the Star once. All three times the sofa has folded out to a full bed. Not large enough for two (or for one person of above average height) but perfect for our 4 1/2 year old.

Sailing this March on the Golden, have just been upgraded from a bc on baja deck to a mini suite on Dolphine deck (mid ship). Would like to know a little about the mini suite and its balcony on this deck. Would Baja deck been a better balcony. Any information would be helpful. This is only our second cruise and the first one was great on the carnival spirit

If an exposed balcony would bother you, go with the small balcony on the Baja Deck. The Dolphin Deck balconies are fully open to the sun & stars.

The mini-suite itself has 2 'sections' in the cabin with 2 TVs. The sitting area has a couch, table and chair (if I remember correctly), the sleeping area has two nightstands with 2 twin beds pushed together or separated as requested. There is a wall unit that holds the 2 TVs, the refrigerator, shelves, etc. It is a VERY narrow cabin. The bathroom is very nice with a tub/shower combo, a sink with plenty of counter space and shelves. There is a closet space next to the bathroom for hanging garments, shoe space above and shelves also. The safe is also located here.

We sailed the Grand in 2000 and the bed opened up to a full size type bed. It was actually pretty comfortable.
