Princess Star or Golden?

I am planning an Alaskan cruise for my family of five this summer(one balcony cabin and one interior across the hall for the kids (ages 13, 11, and 8 at time of sailing). I've narrowed it down to either the star or the golden (both the same itinerary, and both with dates that work). Can anyone give me input on which ship would be better?

Thanks!

Both great ships

I'm cruising on the Star for the second time out of Seattle (June 7th)because its an easy place to get to and the port is very accessible

Also the Star has been refurbished last year.and has added the international Café' which serves better coffee and other menu items for Breakfast and lunch. The Golden doesn't have this feature. Other than the MUTS(movies under the Stars) the ships are much the same.

We are booked to cruise on the Golden on may 23rd to Alaska out of Seattle, and so will be one of the first cruises to set sail after the drydock upgrade. Should be nice! We have a mini-suite, and this will be our 11th cruise, and first to Alaska.

We are taking our first cruise May 10 on the Star. I will post my comments when we get back. its suppose to be a really good ship.

Have sailed many times on both of them and you can't go wrong with either. You have to look pretty hard at the decor to tell the difference because the layout is exactly the same. If one sails on better dates then the other due to flight arrangements, etc. I would just choose that one. If you look at age, the Golden is slightly older then the Star but you would never know it.

We chose the Golden, but now I'm looking at the itinerary and thinking the dock times on the Star would have been more preferable for us...

First and foremost when are you cruising? We are cruising Alaska inside passage July 25 - Aug 1 2009, NEXT WEEK!!!! We booked a suite with three families in adjoining suites so we have requested the privacy panels open so we can enjoy more room. If your sailing date is after ours let me know if you have any specific questions and I will get you the answer and post or e-mail review from our perspective. Packed and ready John and Sandy
