Promenade Deck

Hey there Holland America fans. We've never sailed on a Holland America ship. I have heard that every ship in the line has a Promenade deck that completely circles the ship, and it is on a lower deck, and therefore shaded. Is this true? I am very tired of these new ships with their straight, slab like sides, with only one or two decks that you can walk on, and those in the sun. Thanks for any info.

Absolutely Correct -- all HAL ships have a covered Promenade Deck where you can walk -- and there are loungers where you can sit back and relax and read or watch the ocean.

On the Noordam, Westerdam, Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam the Promenade Deck is also the running track so you do have to careful if you are a walker and someone is running.

On the other ships - Statendam, Ryndam, Veendam, Maasdam, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Zaandam, Volendam and Prinsendam the Lower Promenade Deck is only for walking as there is a dedicated running track on a higher deck for this purpose.

We usually go for a walk in the morning before Breakfast to work of a appeitte. its so beautiful in the morning to walk around the ship!
