Promenade Stateroom

Has anyone ever stayed in one of the cabins facing the Promenade. I booked a balcony room for AOS and I cant believe what a huge difference in price it is for a promenade room, was just wondering if anyone would recommend that room? I'm really looking forward to the balcony room but in all honesty how often would I really be out there anyway, ughh decisions decisions!!! =huh

I have had a PR cabin on two of my four Voyager Class cruises. We liked it a lot. It is nice to be able to look out and see the activities going on in the Promenade. The PR ststerooms are slightly smaller than the regular inside cabins but not enough to make a difference. We loved the little seat by the window. One thing that struck me was what a great job they did in soundproofing the room. You don't hear any noise at all, even on deck six which is only one floor above the Promenade. If you do book one on deck six, make sure it is not above the Sports Bar or the Pub where there might be some noise coming from below you. Also make sure you remember to close the curtains when changing =eek

On the Freedom Class ships they have one Promenade stateroom that is called the "Ben & Jerry's Suite" So named because you have a "partially obstructed" view. The partial obstruction is that you have a view of the rear end of the cow statue atop the Ben & Jerry's. One perk about that room is that you get free Ben & Jerry's ice cream for the whole cruise. .

Yeah it is a big difference in price. That is why on my AOS crusie, coming 3 week after yours, we picked the PR view. I've heard from a couple of others that PR is nice too, just smaller. I've had a balcony and I love it but if are thinking you want to cut the cost a little it seems like an ok option. I thought it was cool to have a people watching view so thats what made us go with that over an ocean view.

I am book in October on level 7 for that stateroom. The room looked great from the computor. I also like being able to look out that window. The cost savings to an outside window was too large to pass up.

Hi, We had a room overlooking the Promenade on the Mariner in May of 07 ( See my review.). It was different but nothing
special. You can see your neighbors opposite you& they can see you so unless you're into exhibitionism, your drapes will be closed most of the timeyour drapes will be closed..We also were almost at the end of the promenade so that made for less of a view.
Try to be placed in the middle. It's definitely better than a standard inside cabin . If your used a balcony room , you probably will be disappointed.
We don't spend a lot of time in our rooms so we had a great cruise and the room was a room .

Enjoy your cruise. There really is no such thing as a bad one.

All the best,

We booked a promenade cabin a coupl of years ago and then were able to upgrade a week or so before the cruise to a balcony, for about $100. So that might be a possibility. We've booked inside cabins and been able to upgrade to balconies for relatively low cost just before the cruise, several times. Have only ended up in an inside cabin one time in 7 cruises. Just don't wait til the day of the cruise to do it. They've always been sold out whenever I've checked on cruise day. Good luck.

Wow only $100 to upgrade that's great, I dont think I would get that lucky though, did you see a price drop a week before that you were able to upgrade or did you call for an upgrade, just wondering unfortunatley I have a 4 month wait LOL!!

Did you contact the cruise lines directly prior to sailing to inquire about upgrading your cabin? we're leaving from Barcelona on Sept. 26 on Brilliance and have an inside cabin booked, would like to upgrade, but I believe all of the inside and outside are sold out.
