Maybe I'm missing it Connie. I saw a few special offers, generally hovering in the $100 p/p p/d range. How does that spell the end of =X= ?

It's the end of the "BRAND" Celebrity. The brand they carefully cultivated for many years which brought to them loyal Celebrity customers. They are now "Carnivalized".
::eek:
Just the fact that your pointing out "price per day" YEEESH - makes my point. Find the cheapest cabin you can and call it a cruise. I call it a waste of money.

The Baby Boomers have to move on to find anything with class, excellent service, fine cuisine and be treated like a Celebrity. I for one, won't mind paying for it.

When I am able to get my review up you will see that my opinion of the Solstice runs a bit towards your thinking also. It's still =X= service but not the same onboard overall. The sales you point out are just a sign of the times I'm afraid.

Connie,
I wouldn't jump off the deep end quite yet...
As I posted in the general Q&A Forum, I think ALL of the cruise lines are hurting right now...
It's the economy...
Long term, they're just looking to fill their ships now...survive and make it to next year--when the economy will likely be better...and the prices will go right back up...it's a temporary thing...They are not going to turn into Carnival and kill their reputation...they'll eat some losses while they keep afloat and keep up their traditional product...but they'll make it all up when the economy turns around...and it will...

Just keep cruising...this summer there are bargains to be had...leave it at that...

I agree with you on this. Although I am a neophyte at this cruising stuff, I can see that the economic situation is hurting the cruise industry and they all have got to get bums in the seats. Actually, the vacation industry in general is having a hard time of it. All inclusives' to the resorts are bargain basement prices as well.
I have not been on this board for a while and is it getting negative here or is that just me?
