Question about Spirit to Bermuda

Our family is seriously looking at taking the NCL Spirit to Bermuda later this year. We've cruised several times on Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Disney.

We are: My parents (both 77), my husband and myself (53) and our daughter (11)

I have a few questions:

My father is both legally blind and hearing impaired. What special services does NCL offered for handicapped individuals?

I've read that NCL throws a GREAT party and that quiet deck space is pretty limited. We're NOT big party people - is this ship a bad choice for us?

Because of my father's handicaps, we really prefer traditional type dining. I know that NCL is FreeStyle. Is it possible to make reservations for the same server/time/dining room?

Thanks for all your help!

Hi Susan. The first thing you need to do is to contact NCL's department for passengers with special needs by sending an email to accessdesk@ncl.com to let them know the services needed by your Dad. Your travel agent, if you used one, may be able take care of this for you. Click http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPages.html?pageId=GuestsSpecialNeeds for more information.

As for deck parties, I wouldn't be concerned. We're not party people, either, and have cruised to Bermuda several times on an NCL ship that was smaller and had less deck space, and there were always other activities for us to enjoy away from the crowds. When you're docked in Bermuda, at least one party will be on land, further minimizing any noise you might encounter.

You may be able to make reservations for the same time/same server, although you may have to compromise a bit by dining early. We tended to do the same as you are planning -- never had a problem prior to 6:00 pm.

Enjoy your cruise!

Susan, NCL has a very good special needs department. You can go to their website and get the email address so you can get your answers directly from the horses mouth. Yes, it is possible to make reservations especially in your situation.

As for parties and a party ship, not really. I consider NCL to be, in may ways like RCI and Princess..Maybe a little more active than Princess, but similar.

Hope this helps some, btw, the SPirit is a very nice ship.

Don't worry too much about the party atmosphere on the Spirit, we went last April out of New Orleans on the Spirit and even though it was spring break we did not encounter any more extra noise or party type people then any cruise we have taken on any cruise line. About the dining, the first night in the MDR we had an ok wait staff, but the second night we had a very personable waiter and we left him a small tip and asked for him each night and we were accomodated, but just to let you know they do move to different areas each night so you may have to sit at another table if you ask for the same waiter.
