I am going to Tampa two days prior to our cruise and want to check out Busch Gardens and other stuff...Anybody know if you can rent a car at the airport and then return it near the port? Any ideas or tips would be appreciated! Thanks.

If you are going to Tampa and then out to Canaveral, you should look into buying a package offered by Busch and Sea World, you can buy passes that allow you to do both parks. I think Universal Studios is included as well. If you are a roller coaster family, Busch is a great park and then Universal Islands of Adventure.

As for the rental, just call the agency and ask them if they allow this or if there is a fee for dropping off in a different location from where it was picked up. I am sure you can do this, there may just be a fee attached.

Enjoy your trip.

The major rental companies have desks and drop-offs in Tampa. Its a nice airport. It isn't a hard town to get around in any case. The down side is that if you wind up on a causeway you don't want to be on, you wind-up driving a long time to find your way back.

But you want to ensure that you ask for off the aiport is that works out for you., On aiport they load all the taxes in , again when I did them all as I stated Thrify came out the least expensive for us. And since we are getting in late, the shuttle for the hotel stops running at 11, we will have a car for us and will return it to cape canaveral

Oh well

Consider this!

A van from the Airport to the Port is about $15.00 and 20 minutes. Make sure you don't pay more than $15.00 to drop it off at a hotel near the port. I normally drop the wife and luggage off at the port return the car or vasn and take a cab or van back to the port. Also buy the combination ticket a Busch Gardens. It give you other places for a few $'s more. Their is a good dog track near Busch they run at night and have a fairly good buffet and not to expensive. Neither my wife or I gamble much but we enjoy watching the dogs run. My wife put $2.00 to win on "Little Jean", our middle daughhters name and won $18.00 nearly paid her nights expense of getting in and the buffet. I am wasn't as lucky.

Well most of the agencies will take you to and from the pier, my cost of 30 bucks is for Cape canaveral back to tampa, so if Orlando is 15 per person I would think you can get a car for less than 30 from the cape to orlando Thrify is taking us to the pier once we drop the car off and upon return to the port will be coming back to get us

So it goes

Thanks for the replies. We ended up renting a car from Enterprise at the Tampa airport and then dropped it off at the Enterprise location on N. Nebraska avenue, which is only 3 miles from the seaport. I later found out that the Enterprise on W. Kennedy will drive you to the port once you drop the rental car off.

On a sidenote, we were highly disappointed with Busch Gardens. I was there 8 years ago and it seems like it went downhill.
