question about traveling with baby

We are going on the Caribbean Princess in July and are trying to decide between a BB cabin and a mini suite. Has anyone traveled on the Grand or Golden (same deck plans) with a baby. What would you suggest. I believe that the only mini suites are on the Dolphin deck. We will be 2 adults and a 1 1/2 year old. Will the crib fit in the standard balcony cabin?
thanks

Definitely a mini, IMO. You'll need the extra room and you'd have a couch for diaper changes. The reg. balcony cabins don't have a couch, just a single chair. If you do choose the reg. balcony cabins, go for a category BA - they have much larger balconies.

Also, get one of those sliding door safety suction cups from Home Depot to keep your toddler safe. Put it at the top of the slider where she can't reach it and then remove it when you leave the ship, saving it for the next cruise!

Or consider the AF minisuite--very spacious with a big window but no balcony. I would worry my head off having a climbing 1-1/2 year old with a balcony to the caribbean.

MimiSails suggestion is a good one if your toddler is a climber. We have not done a regular balcony so I cannot tell you if it will work, but we took our 3 year old in a minisuite and it worked really well lots of room for us to move around, and the sitting area allowed her a place to play. She is not (nor has never been) a climber so we were okay with a balcony, she followed our rule about not going out on the balcony without a grownup. But I must admit I was nervous.

She is now 4 1/2 and we are in a mini on the Grand. she is very excited.

One thing about the balcony and "climbers". The balconys onthe Grand and most of the other Princess hsips are Plexiglass, so there are no "rungs" for a climber to climb up, BUT. the danger lies in the deck chairs being pushed over to the rail and stood on, so a solution might be to
a) remove deck furniture(ask cabin steward)
b) keep a chair but drag it inside when not in use( I am assuming it folds)

I would recommentd the suite for the extra (much needed )room, plus they have the tubs as opposed to just showers.
