Question for Carnival Cruisers...

I have never sailed on a Carnival ship before and I am interested to try it in the near future. What makes Carnival a good cruise line? Is it comprable to RCCL, or not? From what I understand, they are very similar. I will be cruising the Norway this August, and will be looking to sail Carnival as my next endevour. I have sailed RCCL twice, and like I said, I will be on NCL this summer. Any information about Carnival would be geatly appreciated. You can e-mail me at aanowako20@aol.com, or you can post your replies here. Thanks.

Aaron...........Where do I start? I have cruised almost every ship within the Carnival fleet (26 cruises and many ships more than twice) and therefore can swear by the line........she epitomizes the word that best describes the fleet, ships, service, food........entertainment etc. AND that is FUN!!!!

Feel free to contact me if you wish to ask specific questions! I have ALSO cruised 4 R.C.C.L. ships as well as 4 Princess ships!!

It would be better to just enjoy the cruise you're on. But if you must make comparisons then sail on CCL's Destiny class, Spirit class, or Conquest class ships. They will all compare very favorably over the ships you have sailed up till now.

Other than the Norway the ships you have sailed are not that old, but they are from a different era of cruising [to me they have their own charm] and can't compare to today's ships. The Norway is special in that it goes back to the Ocean Liner era and again its unfair to compare her to today's ships.
Of course you must understand that I would sail any ship any time without concern for its age or era. Just love to cruise.

You asked if Carnival was comparible to RCCI. I have sailed on both and I love both. I was on the Explorer 2 years ago and had a great time. I am booked on 2 carnival cruises and am looking forward to both. I hope to said RCCI again sometime in the future.

I agree with the above replies, but I must add that you should cruise on the newer ships.

I agree with Storm'n Norman I would say he is probably the expert. I've sailed Princess and Carnival only and Carnival IMOH is the best!

We very much enjoyed our cruise on the Carnival Inspiration recently. I haven't cruised the other lines that have been mentioned, but we had absolutely no complaints, just rave reviews for the staff, the service, and most importantly, THE FOOD!

I did research quite a bit before we booked a cruise on which lines cater to which type of passengers. As a family with school-aged children, we were definitely looking for a line that was family/kid-friendly, etc. One of the neat things about cruising, IMHO, is that no matter from what walk of life you hail, there is a cruise ship to meet your needs. If you are a dedicated non-smoker, there's the Carnival Paradise. There are small ships that cater to a select group, ships that cater to adventurers, just everything - you name it, it's out there.

I think many of the complaints that people express about cruising, post-cruising, of course, stem from the fact that they may not have chosen the ship and/or cruiseline that best fits their expectations. In other words, if your idea of H$LL is a week with a bunch of kids running around, definitely don't choose Carnival or Disney during spring & summer breaks and holidays. That may seem like a no-brainer, but I can't tell you how many people who make that very choice and then moan about it post-cruise endlessly (duh).

Some books which were extremely helpful were "Cruising for Dummies" (hey, it worked for clueless-about-cruising me) and the Frommer's books on Cruising. They really broke down each individual line and detailed what each line is good at and not-so-good at.

To address your question, we definitely plan to sail on Carnival again, probably the Paradise next spring break if the finances work out.

Happy Sailing!

We really loved the Paradise, and she's the only Carnival ship rated in Conde Nast Traveler's Top 70 Cruise ships. We also like the Triumph but Paradise was definitely several notches above in terms of cleanliness, service and quality of food. The main show was a little better on the Triumph, but all the othe entertainment was better on the Paradise. She's strictly non-smoking, which for us is a plus. We're planning to sail her again this winter.

Depends what you are looking for. Personally, I am not a huge fan of Carnival, but my next cruise is on the Pride. I have not tried that class of ship and got a good deal. In general, I have been very disappointed in the ships, but service and food is very similar to RCI or NCL. You will enjoy any cruise you go on, I have.

I am a huge fan of Carnival! :) We've been on several cruiselines, and Carnival is our favorite. RCI is very similar, but Carnival definitely has more fun! Our last RCI cruise (in October) was much too quiet for us and we can't wait to get back on a Carnival ship later this month.

I love Carnival! I like the contrast of people, the relaxed atmosphere and the service. I always feel very laid back and relaxed not worrying about the "class" thing, and just letting my hair down!

Ok.. here is the deal .. I got a 15% discount on a cruise now mind you I didnt find out till today that the 15% is only the CRUISE PART OF THE TRIP WHICH COST 120.00 per person for a cabin with a port hole ..

So the discount on the cruise is 21 dollars per person .. and I thought you got a discount for sailing as a past quest .. I dont know ... oh excuse my use of g's for q's its a habit .. I picked up somewhere .. but and

"space bar " space bar"

then you have to add on the port charges and the taxes that George is trying to give back to us and then you figure it out .. Ok so the total price of a cruise for two with a Main deck porthole cabin is going to be a total for 2 of 479.00 .. for 3 days .. Now that is not bad I dont think .. but I expect that the prices will still go down and IM going to waiting until the exact second they go down and call my TA and ask him to give us a shipboard credit but I will have to be QUICK .. as it seems as soon as they lower those prices the prices go back up ..
But it is cheaper than any of the other cruises so far on this date of 5/22/03 but I will say , they are upgrading you three catagorys everywhere for this cruise and there are LOTS OF CABINS LEFT ..
IS THAT BECAUSE IM SAILING ??????

Hey
Basically I had a lousy time because we didnt get out of port and I HAD JUST BASED ALL MY THOUGHTS ON GETTING TO NASSAU .. ONE TRACK RAIL ROAD MIND ..

I READ UP ON IT , STUDIED ABOUT IT AND WANTED TO TOUR IT AND then we did not get there until 430 in the afternoon or so and we had to be back on ship at 1130 ..pm
which did not leave us time to see the things we came to see and the ship broke down and that was NOT what really upset me the most..

WHAT upset me the most , was like a straw on a camels back I quess .. LIFE had some major problems before this cruise and I didnt have any rabbits to pull out of my hat to have fun so I basically just wallowed in my misery ..when I could .. but I

enjoyed the brownies at room service and they took us to Free port instead of our day at sea etc and freeport had nothing to do except a flea market that cost us about 20 bucks to get there and back ..

and I thought about it a lot .. basically we purchased insurance for 78 bucks incase our car broke down on the way there and our car made it perfectly on time . but the ship didnt purchase the same insurance they sold us in case they broke down .. sounded sensible to me at the time anyway ... but this time

Im going to just read a BOOK or
sit in that vibrating chair calling roomservice and having them deliever it there with some of those brownies and tea if we dont leave PORT .. and IM bringing some rabbits to pull out of my hat and some flowers toooooo....

THAts the story .. and Im sticking to it ..
