Dumb question of the day -- when the ship is in Gatun Lake and you tender to a shore excursion do you return to Gatun Lake or does the ship move on during the day. Just can't seem to figure this out from the info. Thanks!

From what I understand, (going in 54 days), the ship basically drops you off in the Gatun Lake area. Only those that are doing shore excursions are 'dropped off'. The ship cruises around the lake during the day, (or is anchored there), and then cruises back out to Colon where you're picked up. The busses return you to Colon and know where to take you. If this isn't right, someone correct me please.

Just did a HAL Rotterdam 10 Canal in December.....we anchored in Gatun. Excursions were tendered to and from Gatun while anchored. Just for your information, no one seemed to be happy about the excursions.... almost to a person heard nothing but negative comments.

Thanks Lady Jag & Colo for the info! That was what I thought but couldn't pin it down! We are doing a transcanal so I guess the pick up point will be on the other end.?

Bruce, thanks for the heads up on the excursions, we are leaning toward making it an "enjoy the ship day". There are a couple evening things that sound more interesting, i.e. a Miraflores locks or Panama City by night? Heard any comments on those?

Thanks again appreciate you're taking the time to respond. Cheers!
