Questions about Carnival Spirit and Carnival in General

As stated in previous posts ... we are sailing Carnival Spirit to Alaska in September. Our first Carnival cruise!

I have questions - just a few for now but I'm sure I'll think of many more as the months tick by!

- When you board in the first wave are the cabins ready or do you have to wait until they are -released- at 1:00
- Is room service free (tip always given) and can you hang out a breakfast card at night or do you have to call in your orders
- Are tips automatically added to your room account
- Do they still have adult entertainment at midnight (friend told me about it a few years ago)
- Do they still have topless tanning on the top deck (husband found that on some website - will bring sun block for his eyes)
- is there a wake up call option on the cabin phone

Ok, that will get me started. As always any input or guidance will be greatly appreciated

Just to correct from above, there is no more topless sunbathing on Carnival ships. They have fazed out this program citing that they can use this deck space for better activities. On some ships they even installed a mini golf course up there.

Jetblue is right. When we sailed the Triumph and year ago, they had already eliminated it, and taken down the signs.

This is correct. Also, when is the last time you saw some topless in Alaska?

Opps! I learned something new today. Last trip on Carnival, Sensation Oct. 2006 so my info is "dated" or should I say Out Dated :lol
it was an option. But, I like the phasing out of it, to make better use of the area. (tu)

The answer is yes to all of your questions with the possible exceptions about topless sunbathing. Last time I was on the Spirit and Legend there was topless sun bathing. We were just on the Imagination (3 days to nassau) no topless there and we were on the Freedom to The Med last Sept and no topless there. I'm not sure what lines you have been on but I think you will enjoy Carnival for sure.

Re: How do we tag bags

We are booked on the Glory Aug. 2, 2008 outside guarantee but I will not know our cabin number until we arrive at the port how do you tag your bags?

Hello Fitz,

We;ve used to do guarantees a lot. Frequently you do find out your cabin number sooner than that.

Sometimes your docs arrive with the cabin number written right on them.. Sometimes the cabin number shows up on the first page of your on-line registration page. ( So go back and look at that, from time to time, even if you have filled everything out already. ) No telling when that might happen, but anytime after final payment is possible. And yes, sometimes not until you get to the pier.

They will still send you tags, that merely say GTY where the room # should be. (Or I believe you can print them out from your computer at home, if you get E-docs. ) Make certain the tags are filled out as far as you can, with your name and whatever other information they request. Now if you really don't know the number until you get there, what you do is this:

When you arrive at the pier and take the bags out of the taxi, Look among the baggage handlers for one with a large clipboard, or sheave of papers. They will be able to look up your name on the list and then he will mark it on the tags for you. (The baggage handlers have to be able to do this, in order to know where to deliver your bags. )

One note: one time our documents arrived a few weeks in advance, with cabin numbers on all the tags. But when we got to the desk they had upgraded our cabins to another deck. We waited quite a while for some of our bags to arrive, and when they didn't show, our son ran down to the OTHER cabin, the one we had originally been assigned to and whose number was on our tags, And there were our suitcases sitting outside that door. Just a thought, should anything similiar happen to you.
