Questions about cruising in July....

My daughter is getting married the end of July of this year and my husband and I are planning a cruise for her and her husband for their honeymoon. I would like to know how cruising is this time of year. We have been on our share of cruises but have always traveled in March or April. I know it's hurricane season the end of July/beginning of August. My daughter is concerned about the weather. Has anyone cruised at this time and had bad weather or encountered hurricanes? What is done? Do they reroute you and are they able to keep you in fairly good weather? I've heard the ship will go around the bad weather if they can.

I haven't decided on the itinerary or ship yet. Can anyone tell me if the weather's the same for the Western or Eastern itineraries??

Do you recommend cruising at this time or would a land vacation be better?? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

Sorry guess I forgot to mention that they are looking to leave from Miami and go on either a Western or Eastern Caribbean cruise. Although I think we have it narrowed down to cruising on the Carnival Triumph going to Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios and Cozumel.

Well, the tropical storm season Begins June 1 and ends November 30. One never knows what Mother Nature will have on her mind but I would not hesitate to book a cruise in the summer. We have sailed in September and October and never had a problem but we've been lucky.

In case of bad weather the ship will head in a different direction and the ship's speed can outrun any hurricaine I've ever heard of. So just be prepared to have an altered itinerary if bad weather is a brewing.

As far as a land vacation is concerned, I would rather be on a ship if a hurricaine was coming than in a hotel because the ship can get out of the way....a hotel can not.

We went out of Galveston after my daughters wedding two years ago in late July to Jamaica and Grand Caymen. The weather was great and we had no problems. Had one day of a little rain but that was it. You never know when a storm will hit but the Cruise line will just change it's itenerary.
I'm sure they'll love whatever you do.
