Anyone else find it odd that for the Fall 2008 / Spring 2009 schedule there will NOT be one Radiance Class ship sailing out of Florida??? I know that obviously RCCL is bound and limited by the LARGE ship mentality but to NOT have 1 Radiance Class ship sailing from Florida seems odd. =huh Just my =twocents but I think they are missing the boat so to speak. And why would they have the Serenade sailing from San Juan as I have NEVER figured out what the illusion is of cruiselines putting some of their better ships in San Juan and then having to deep discount them to fill them up??? OK I have vennted for the time being. :lol

That makes no sense to me.....I love the Radiance class sized ships-have sailed on the Radiance twice, and will be sailing on the Jewel in 6 wks...DH and I have decided we really have no need to go on a bigger ship,Radiance class suits us fine. When I looked to book our Nov 07 cruise, I couldn't afford flying to San Juan and found the Jewel out of Ft. Lauderdale.

It's true that the Brilliance will be gone to Europe year-round pretty much, but there are other Radiance Class ships sailing out of FLL & Miami:

Radiance of the Seas - 11/9/08 FLL to Valparaiso

Jewel of the Seas - 11/7/08 to 4/3/09 MIA Round-trip 10 & 11 Panama Canal cruises (that the Brilliance is currently doing)

The Serenade will be sailing out of SJU as usual 11/8/08 through 4/11/09.

Ah well I guess I missed the Jewel as I was searching for Caribbean. =shrug I guess its a way of the future with ALL these mega monsters coming that can NOT go anywhere BUT the Caribbean. Guess we will either have to go on the Megas or go with another line. Never thought I would think of a 110000 GRT ship as a small ship. :lol

:lol :lol Yeah, Einstein, it does look like that is the trend - even with Celebrity's new Solstice. They all put the big 'uns in the Caribbean. Now RCI's Voyager Class ships are being replaced by the super big 'uns and they're sending the Voyager Class ships elsewhere. =dunno

Glad we're not cruising with RC this year. This wouldn't make us any happier, as we prefer the Radiance class. IMO, the Serenade OTS was probably our favorite ship out of ALL of the cruises we have been on. To me, it's the "bigger is better" mentality that they seem to have. Not for us. Voyager class is our max.

Am I ever gonna miss the Empress...

Joe, I totally agree. We went on the Liberty in June. Our teen sons loved it, but for me, it was just too big. I prefer the Radiance Class ships by far too. :)

When introduced, the Radiance class of ships were intended for world wide cruising...that's why they were built as Panamax, have higher cruising speeds and somewhat upscale decor.

We can pass on the Caribbean, so I guess I would like to see all four RD class used everwhere but the Caribbean.
