Hi Shellydp,
I've never sailed on the Radiance. I will be disembarking the same day you will be embarking the ship. In 2005, I did sail her sister ship Serenade of the Seas, 7 day RT ALASKA. I'm pretty sure there will be minor differences between the two.

I can try to answer any questions that you might have. HAPPY SAILING=COOL

How exciting... I was just curious about the ship because I didnt see anyone sailing on it. Kinda scared me because I have no idea what to expect!

So if you have sailed to Alaska before, then you have an idea of what to expect? I had asked in a previous post about the dress code. My TA said Alaska cruises were more informal but I really want to make sure we dress appropriately. There are 13 of us going and of course all the men are jeans and T-shirt kind of guys. I know T-shirts are inappropriate but what about jeans and a button up top for just walking around the ship and going to the shows? Then slacks for dinner with a jacket? And the women a dress or pant suit?

We are really trying to take jeans because we are staying in Alaska in a RV after the cruise for 5 days so we really cant pack one style of dress for the cruise and another for the RV because we will have soooo much luggage already!!

Also, I was curious how warm the pools for the children are kept? I heard they were heated then was told they werent.. that would be very chilly!

Thank you for any help you can give! I am excited about the cruise, just apprehensive about bringing one style of clothing and feeling out of place!

:waveshellydp,

Jeans are fine for Alaska. Alaska cruises are more informal. Jeans and a button up top for just walking around the ship and going to the shows are perfect. In fact, that's what my husband and I wore and saw a lot of. The two formal nights, we did put on our best. All the other nights, we dined in the formal dinning room in our every-day clothes. For land excursions, we dressed in layers, caused the weather changed from time to time.

Regarding the pools; on the Serenade of the Seas, the Solarium pool and the children’s pool were heated.

Most of all, don't stress too much on the clothing. It will be fine. Pack for a smart casual dress attire.

If you have any more questions or concerns, go ahead and ask. I don't mind at all. I will do my best to try and get you answers.

HAPPY SAILINGS :)
