Rain Slicker

Wondering if anyone can advise me how heavy a rain slicker I will need in Alaska this summer. I've seen various types on line ranging from plain polyutherane to fleece lined. I'm stumped how heavy I will actually need it.

So many questions.

Thanks for any advice from the pros.

Someone suggested to me to go to the Dollar Store and get a couple of the cheap plastic raincoats for $1 each. Layer the clothes underneath....use the coat for rain protection only, then just throw it away.

The $1 ones sound like a good way to go. Buying some heavy raincoat to wear in case it rains does not sound appealing.

We were at Disneyworld once when the heavens opened up. The store clerks come out of the back room with these cheap parkas, about $4 I think. Within minutes, the whole park is covered in them.

So I guess it's not that cold that I have to wear a jacket all the time.

Thanks for the insight.

In Alaska I think you may have to wear a jacket or sweather... check for your month though

I'd go with a couple of cheap plastic ponchos (can be stuffed into a pocket for instant use) and a polar fleece long sleeved shirt/jacket style over a tee-shirt). Packing around a heavier jacket can be a chore. The weather can change at any time: from cold, (50 degrees) cloudy with heavy rain to clear skies and 75 degree humid weather within an hour. Go light and be ready for everything!
