Rates dropped...given a shipboard credit

I booked a Glory cruise back in July for a Sept 20th sailing for a "Balcony Guarantee" (at least a category 8A or higher). There is myself, my husband and my 5 year old son and we paid $2080 including taxes and port charges. I just called Carnival this morning and asked about the rate drop and with some arguement was given a shipboard credit of $200 for all of us. Does that sound like a good deal? If there are any more rate drops, will I be still able to to advantage of it?

It never hurts to ask and keep hounding them. Its not like they are going to say "Well this person is such a bother lets buy their ticket back and not let them on the cruise"

Its much like buying a car just keep working it untill you think you got the best deal you can. When it comes down to it they will just throw in little extras to keep you happy and always ask to go up the chain of command to the next supervisor. As they say it never hurts to ask, all they can say is no and maybe a yes.

Well, I spoke to a CS supervisor today and said that the most I could get was the $200 ship board credit. She explained to me that a person cannot always get the full difference in price because of the time limitations Carnival sets for getting back credit. Sounded like a bunch of "BS" to me but agreed on the $200 credit (which I know I will be using on drinks and excursions). She also decided to upgrade my room from an 8A guarantee to a cabin on category 8E. So I guess in the end, I did not do too bad...just hope the rates don't go down any lower.

We booked a 4a guarantee on the Paradise for 9/21. We were assigned a 6a cabin. Rates have dropped about $100pp on our sailing. Are they likely to tell me that since I received an upgrade, I'm not entitled to a refund or shipboard credit?
