I have not had time to post since I got back from my cruise but wanted to share something about my experience.

I went on the Sapphire Princess 9/5-9/12 cruise to Alaska. I thought that Princess cruise lines were very nice. They had excellent food, service, and accommodations. I was very pleased. I have only done Carnival in the past, but I think Princess is WAY better.

Ketchikan-we did the Misty Fjords Wilderness Cruise & Flight
This was my favorite of all of our excursions. WELL WORTH the money spent. We had an excellent time, the best scenery ever. We even got to see bear cubs!!

Orca Point Lodge & Whale Watching-Juneau
This was a lot of fun as well. We got to see a bunch of humpback whales and 2 eagles. The salmon was the best I ever had at the lodge too!!

Whitepass Yukon Railway-Skagway
This was OK. I think if you can do the train ride only one way it may be better. We did the train ride both ways and thought it was too much. Beautiful scenery, but I would not recommend it to anyone. There are better options for an excursion at this port.

Victoria Pub Tour
This was great! We got a city tour, even stopped for photo opportunities. We stopped at 3 pubs, and had the equivalent to 6-8 beers at least. One stop was at Spinnakers that was AMAZING. They had homemade bread, cheese, chocolate, vinegar and beer there. It was SOOO devious! We want to go back to Victoria for another trip-absolutely beautiful!

Our trip was perfect, with the exception of one bad day at sea. We hit 30-foot swells, and the boat was a rocking. We almost did not stop at Victoria as a result! I am sure that anyone who was on this cruise can agree with me that it was a rough day! I did not survive...but despite that I had an awesome trip!

'I did not survivie".....I meant that I got sick. I was puking most of the day and night until we finally got closer to land and out of the rough waters. We did get to see most of Victoria, we did a city tour on the bus before hitting the pubs. It is beautiful there.

Sounds like lots of fun ;)

Really, though. I have lots of time to plan for a summer '05 Alaskan cruise, but the seasick thing is something that I'll have to confront eventually. I have never experienced motion sickness at any time. Also, I hate being medicated. I undersand that the medication for seasickness (dramamine?) can have you pretty groggy. I've also heard that it doesn't do any good if you wait until you get sick to start the meds (wive's tale?). So, my questions are:

1. Given my apparent tolerance to motion sickness, should I take my chances?

2. Should I take the meds just in case?

3. Should I keep the meds handy and take them if we encounter rough seas?

Maybe some of you who have experienced it both ways can advise me, especially if you, like me, aren't susceptable to motion sickness.
