I would appreciate any tips on what fun things or inexpensive tours etc. anyone has done on this cruise.

Thanks.

This was 13 years ago but.............

...on Catalina Island, first we rented a peddle boat and peddled around the harbor, looking at all the boats. We then rented a golf cart and toured the island for about an hour and a half. That was followed by a short walking tour which we ended by renting another golf cart and taking the island in again!

In Ensenada we found a van tour headed to La Buffadora (the blowhole) and a small flea market. A very nice trip.

I'm sure there are more things to do there now.

Catalina, snorkling was fun especially if you have not yet been to the caribbean, you can rent the equipment on your own for less than $15.00 pp, if you don;t want to get wet the submarine that is yellow and shoots out food is an awesome way to see all sorts of underwater life, again, book it yourself and save big money, save more money and do not buy the food they offer, enough other people will buy it so you can watch the fish from their window, I loved the golf carts too!! do that for sure!! before you get to Catalina decorate a dollar bill and take it to Antonios, you'll see why when you get there.
In Ensanada, I was not that hip on the trip to La bufadora (blowhole) if you have never seen one then maybe you would like it but if you have you might enjoy something that does not include way too many hours in a bus on mexican highways just my opinion. there is a winery that offers tasting and tours, there is endless shopping, However we found all that we wanted right at the pier for the same amount of money and we did not have to lugg it everywhere we went that day, shop around and barter, there is always a good deal to be had there!!
have fun!!! Jo-rene

On the golf carts...................they are governed to about 30 MPH, but if you stop at the top of the hill & let it shut off you can coast downhill as fast as you dare.
Be forwarned, the ride is not for the weak or timid as speeds can easily reach 45 and then some.
Exceeding 30MPH in a golf cart is not only foolish and dangerous, it is very fun! ;)

In Ensenada, we took a Ford extened van to the blowhole. (yes, working A/C)
We had a 'host' onboard that narrated the entire trip answering any questions that you had. We also stopped several times at shops and a cantina.
I don't recall it being that long of a ride, at least it didn't seem like it.
As that was my first trip to Mexico, I enjoyed seeing the sights anyway.
