My Alaska cruise was on the RCI Legend of the Seas. To date she is our all time favorite ship (11 cruises & ships). She has almost floor to ceiling glass in many private areas which is wonderful for Alaska cruising. We also had our 1st. balcony cabin on this ship and I confirm, that is a must. Our last cruise was on a Carnival Spirit class ship, the Pride. Although decor may differ, the layout is exactly the same. Huge 8 deck high atrium, three pools including a dome covered one, great lounges and theaters, a wonderul spa and a fabulous buffet area with Stations for many choices instead of one straight line. The glassed areas of the Legend of the Seas in the lobby, lounges, pool, and main dining room really provide the most light open space for your beautiful scenic cruise. I also like a wine steward and bar service in the dining room which many cruise lines are doing away with. Many have the waiter or asst. take those orders. RCI does not have nightly Midnight buffet but offers Gourmet Bites which are passed canapes within many lounges on some nights and buffets like Tropical and of course the best is their Grand buffet. It definetly was better than on Carnival, but I never eat at this time, so it is just for fun to admire for me. Food on Carnival was fine and cabin size was great with average inside or outside cabins at 185 SF and up. RCI regular and inside cabins may be smaller. We had a huge cabin with a huge balcony.
Bon Voyage
