I had posted a pretty detailed review when I came back from the Fantasy in Novemeber, I also had a Princess cruise for the following month. Although I had my complaints originally, let me take a moment to post my thought and views now. I had very high expectations for my first cruise which was supposed to be on princess, however last minute travel arrangements allowed my girlfriend and I to take a cruise.

I liked carnival for all the reasons i should have, though i can really say it was not the fun ship.. it is a very laid back,, backyard barbeque type atmosphere. You never feel under dressed or over dressed, and even though we had trad seating, we never felt rushed to get ready to eat.

We had a great time and I will cruise carnival again in the future. I paid 279.00 for an inside cabin to go away with a friend, and thats exactly what i got , a great well spent 279.00, it was the atmosphere and relaxtion away from work we both needed.

Now on the other hand, my next cruise was on princess for my 25th bday, with my fiance, that cruise was over 1500.00 and i expected a different country club, elegant refined type cruise, because thats why we booked it, and thats what we got.

Both cruises were great cause hey,,, we werent at home

Next we are going on RCL serenade, because we want a little more upscale, but no so much refinery. RCl seems like a good inbetween the backyard barbeque, and the black tie affair. You pick the cruisline and the ship for how you want your vacation to be. We were docked beside the CCL conquest, and it looked beautiful.. we will probably never try celebrity or hal, but thats just our personal pref. please dont anyone attack me for that, price wise, we are not by any means very wealthy and CCL , RCL and princess are in our price range..

That being said. You choose what you want out of your vacation, and you go by whats in the bank account and you decide. Some people like the cruise for the ship, some just for the diff ports of call. SOme just dont care :)

I personally dont care what line you put me on just get me the heck out of Jersey :)

Read both my reviews and youll see the differnce in both lines, carnival beat princess in some, and princess beat carnival in others... the best way to put it is you take the jeep for some 4x4 fun, and then take the sports car out to your fancy dinner, both were a great time you just use differnt vesssels for what your in the mood for :)

Your right there are differences. Yet I believe that Carnival Cruise Lines owns more lines than just Carnival, Like Princess and Holland.

Your right as well being on any cruise is better than being home.

Very well put. The wife and I sailed both Carnival Legend last may and Golden Princess last Oct? I think it was.

Both very well priced. Very different worlds. (Well, not very different, let's say different atmosphere.)

One thing in common.. Laughed our heads off on both lines, and determined to have a great time.

Honestly, I don' t know where the heck I'm going with this, But the one thing I do know is that a bad cruise is certainly better than a bad day at work!!! =lolgang

ok, here goes...you want a bad review???? first cruise my family had been on (my personal second) was on a cruise line called "cape canaveral" most of you probably never heard of it....for good reason. the first thing we noticed was that the ship was "a little stuffy" but not being seasoned cruisers, we figured that the ship must have to be moving for the a/c to be working properly (now mind you, our cruise was from florida in the begining of JULY! the cabin was for 4, all fold down bunks, and you had to walk sideways to get between them. once we were on our way, we noticed that the air wasn't working any better.....oh, yeah, they forgot to tell us that the A/C was not functioning.,....at all!!!!! then once on the way, we thought we felt a slight thumping ....ooooops, the drive shaft was bent!!!! But guess what??? despite all that, our group managed to have a great time...yes it was hot, but we would have been hot at home, too.....we had no dinner to cook, no laundry to do, no floors to vaccum....how could we have had a bad time??? the cruises are what you make of them.....we love carnival, the food is decent(anything you don't have to buy, carry, put away and then cook tastes 10 x's better), the ships are clean(and you didn't have to lift a finger), and you can't do anything but relax....my definition of a wonderful vacation. just don't expect caviar when you pay for catfish!!!!!

of course, that is just my 2 cents worth
