Read a bad Conquest Review now I'm Worried

I have read a bad review from someone and now a little worried. My family has cruised on the Holiday and it was ok nothing really special for us. The food was less than we expected (I think our expectations were to high).
So we decided to try a larger ship and booked the Conquest. Now I read a rather stinging review where all the family could say was it mediocre at best. This family had cruised on other lines and was also very disappointed in the food among other things.
If you have cruised on the Conquest before I would like your honest opinion please.
Thanks!

I think you are over reacting! Almost all the reviews have been nothing but positive. There is always something someone doesn't like. Most bad reviews for Conquest occurred with the problem of moving to Gulfport for 3 months. I am leaving on the Conquest in 2 weeks. Feel free to ask me anything when I get back on the 24th of August.

Speaking of reviews , did you read the "review " by Jeff on the Glory??
He gave the ship one star but his few lines were devoted to a shore tour in Belize he didn't like. Not a good way to review an entire cruise or ship, based on a shore tour.

Don't over react to a bad review. The Conquest is a new ship, the food will be good and you will have a ball. Don't start your cruise off looking out for the little bumps in the road.

Every ship will have good and bad reviews. You cannot please everyone. You do not know the people who wrote the review so how would you know if you agree with them? When I read reviews I throw out the great and the bad reviews and look at what the average is. I also go with an open mind. If I worried about every bad review I read about some of the ships I have been on I would have missed out on some great times.

AMEN Peb! It's all about YOUR personal attitude and what you make of it. Good grief...I've sailed on the Holiday 4 times in the last year. If I went by what I've heard about it, I would have never booked the first one. And she is BY FAR my favorite ship out of the 3 that I've been on.

Take your cruise with a positive attitude, and let us know how it goes for YOU ! Have a great time!

I agree with what the others said. Everyone has their on oppions(sp?) and ideas. We are all different. Go with an open mind and make up your own mind. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Just go and have fun. :)

US Male: I was on the Conquest New Year's Eve, the Fantasy in March and the Holiday in July (and booked again on the Holiday in October). This will be my 9th family cruise on Carnival. Since you have been on the Holiday, you know what the formal dinners are like. Carnival is pretty consistant ship to ship with their formal dinners. I am a beef eater. I eat the same thing on every ship. The sirloin steak will be dry and tough. The prime rib, beef wellington, Chateau have always been fine on all ships. My husband is a seafood eater and has always enjoyed the seafood entrees. The pizza and ice cream will be the same as on the Holiday. Now is where the difference comes in. The Conquest has an expanded buffet in Lido. One side will be Italian while the other side is Mexican. Plus they offer a sushi bar, a deli and a Chinese entrees every day in addition to the daily buffets. The salad bar, desserts etc are also "expanded" from what you were served on the Holiday. Also, the Conquest has The Point which costs $25 a person for the extra she she foo foo dining. I am a pretty picky eater, but I have never been able to find anything I did not enjoy. I have not eaten at The Point, but I have only heard raves about the food. Remember that if you are at dinner and you don't like the entree you ordered...ask for something else. my husband is not a salad eater, so he orders two (sometimes three) appetizers and soups. When they have lobster, he always orders two right off the bat and they serve them one at a time. Never a problem.

As for the service and other aspects of cruising Carnival...that will depend on the dining staff and cabin steward you get. But you can get a bad server on any cruise line. In our years of cruising with Carnival.....we have never had a bad cruise. Some were better than others....but we have always gotten our money's worth. I think what people want to do sometimes is compare Carnival with a Silver Sea cruise. I have heard the RCCL vs Carnival comparison ad nauseum and it is all about what a person likes. Every person is different. Not any better or any worse...just different. The only real guarantee that you will have a great cruise is don't forget to pack the best attitude possible. If you look for faults, you will find them. If you go to enjoy your vacation, short of the ship sinking, you will have a great one!!!!!!!!

I sailed on the Conquest in March and I think she is a wonderful ship. There were some small problems with the move to Gulfport, but overall the ship and her crew are top notch and I would sail on her again in a heartbeat.

USMale,
My wife and I sailed the Conquest in February and had the time of our lives. I'm sure I could find something to complain about, if I tried. We enjoyed the whole experience and would sail her again if we get done with our list of other than Carribean cruises. If you have specific concerns, email me.

My honest opinions is do not read the reviews.
Or if you do, pay little attention to those that 100& pro or con any ship. (or entire line)
If I would have paid attention to all the anti-Carnival reviews we would have never tried them.
We had a great time and would choose ANY Carnival ship again in a heartbeat!

We were on the Sensation in March and at the same time our friends were on the Conquest. Other than the last minute Gulfport move, they loved it.

There are no bad cruise ships.
(just bad cruisers)

Jeff and Susanna, you are absolutely right. After reading some reviews I was so worried when we took our very first cruise on the Trumph in 2000, sense then we look at reviews for information on excursions, not what they did or did not like.
