Recommendations for Places to See/Triumph

Hi everyone,

My family and I will be going on a cruise on Carnival Triumph in mid-March but I'm a little bit lost on what attractions we should go see. We will be visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico from 5pm-midnight, St. Thomas, USVI, Nassau and Half Moon Cay all day, during the day. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do? I have heard a lot of negative feedback from shore excursions booked through the cruise lines but I'm apprehensive about booking something on the side and choosing something bad. So I hope someone can help give me some good ideas, especially for the night visit to Puerto Rico. Thanks!

I have always thought that evening stop at San Juan was a waste, but that's just me. There are some casinos in San Juan and the casino on the ship will be closed while you're in port. In St Thomas I like Megan's Bay or snorkeling along Frenchman's Reef. Perhaps a ferry ride over to St John.

For a list of things to do I usually rely on the Shore Trips dot com website. Here's a link.

Paradise Point in ST Thomas is a must see for a spacticular sunset. You over look the harbor and the ships. Half Moon Cay is a beautiful beach. They do have little cabanas that if you have several people to share the price it's worth it to grab one of those. You have a place to eat lunch, stow your stuff and it comes with floats, and snorkle equipment and a shower.
Have a wonderful time.

San Juan is a waste of time since most shops and sites are closed by the time you dock.

St. Thomas - I can recommend a trip to Trunk Bay on St. John - much less crowded than most of the beaches on St. Thomas.

I don't know about Nassau or Half Moon Cay as I haven't been to either as of yet.

Carnival is charging $220 for the cabanas. They have to be booked on the ship. There are about 12 of them. They say the capacity is 4 people. You receive 2 large bottles of water, 8 soft drinks, fresh fruit, fresh cut up fruit. salsa, sour cream, tortilla chips, snorkel gear, floating mats, refrigerator, paddle fan, air conditioner, 2 lounge chairs, shower, misters, and a fan.
