Refund

We are sailing on Century on 15 August and have booked through a TA (this will be our 2nd cruise with Celebrity). Has anyone ever received a refund from a TA as the cruise date got closer? Our TA hasn't been the best in the world (we won't use him again) but I was wondering if there were lower rates if a TA has passed this on.

Thanks - looking forward to our cruise

I''ve heard of TA's doing that if the cruise price has dropped, however I'm sure most TA's are all about the commission and would never think to pass on savings to their clients. Good luck, Matt.....sailing this Saturday aboard the Century!!!!

We got a very big surprise when final payment was due on our last cruise--Lori got us a senior rate saving us about $800! So the answer is yes, some TA's will pass along the lower fares.

You should keep checking rates on line and if there is a drop in the rates you should inform your travel agent. If you are a senior, that should have been caculated with the original booking and not something that you would get at a latter date. Trust no one with your money.

The senior rate was not offered by the cruiseline at the time we booked our cruise about 10 months before the sail date. The TA was on top of things to find, and apply this savings at final payment.

Thanks for everyone's input. I called our TA and of course he said that there was no reduction in price. Next time I will go through the Celebrity travel folks.

Lori has contacted us, even after final payment, with refunds going to our credit card... Got one last year on Century... and this year on Galaxy (we sail on Monday... woo hoo!)

Well our final payment was Saturday and the ship is far from sold out. I am watching for a price drop...and a surprise from Lori.

How do you find out if the ship is sold out or not and watch for a price drop? That would be good info for me to take back to the TA.

Scuba queen, there are many good internet cruise only agencies. I do comparison (as if I were going to book a new trip) on line and don't bother any agent. I find icruise.com to be very good for research. If I can buy exactly what I have already purchased (like the cabin next door) at a lower price, I then let my TA know and she takes it from there. Some people feel the TA should be doing this "rate watch" anyway, but I know they can't monitor every cruise they have booked especially if they are a large agency or good booking agent. Last cruise each cabin received an $800 cabin credit from the cruise line. We still paid the invoice, but our ship board expenses were almost paid for which included the tips, tours, photo's etc.
Bon Voyage

I believe but not sure that Celebrity always has the Senior rate but you must request it. .
I have gotten it on every Celebrity cruise that I have taken. My on line agent has a box to check for requesting the senior rate.

HI BP AND HOOKED,

You have to be 55 for a senior discount.

BP, not all cruises on Celebrity offer the senior rate all the time. They usually start off with a senior rate about 9 months ahead. If the ship starts to fill up they usually withdraw the senior rate and then they might apply it to a specific category that needs booking. The senior rate is quite common but not consistent.
