Regal Princess LA to Hawaii roundtrip. Anyone going? I Would love to know what the 'at sea' weather is like on the ocean since most of the time is ... at sea! I love to hang out outside and hot tub, read and snooze. Will the weather be good for that? We're going on 02 20 04
Also any info on day trips islands or whatever...... would be great. We've been on Star and Grand loved them both.
We did Mexican Riveria in 02 20 03. The first day at sea I asked the bartender why it was so cloudy (leaving LA) he responded "It is always like this the first day at sea" just woulda been nice to know before enbarking---- Plus we are weather spoiled living in San Diego, Ca!

I will be going on the Regal in May to Alaska. Tell me what the ship is like and what you thought of her. I have sailed from LA to Mexico a few times and the weather has always been nice but that was in the spring and I think the smog has gotten worst.

I love the Regal Princess. Sailed on her this past January from Sydney to Auckland and had no real complaints (except that they ran out of Jack Daniels!).

The ship is well laid out, wide halls, etc. She is getting some age on her, so don't try to compare her to the newer, glitzier ships. The staff were fantastic, as was the food.

The dome is a great place for viewing, but the casino is right next door, weird layout since the casino produces some noise, but no big deal in my opinion.

Sailed on the Crown Princess in 2000 and loved her too!

Did the same itinerary on the Crown Princess in January 2002, the weather on the first couple of days was windy, long sleeves were required while sitting on deck. The closer we got to Hawaii the better the weather got (naturally). We didn't do any of the ship tours, found it just as easy to go off on our own. The Regal is probably my favorite Princess ship. Its older and smaller than the new monoliths that are out there, but that makes her more enjoyable in my opinion. You won't find Personal Choice dining as there is only one dining room, however the Horizon Court is open in the evening if you prefer that.

We were on the Sun Princess this last March to Hawaii, from LA, and the first couple of days coming and going, were cool and sometimes rainy. When we got to Hawaii, we had beautiful weather every day; and leaving it was nice the first day, then as we got closer to home, it was cooler and cloudy. I found the at sea day activities lacking compared to the RCCL cruise to Hawaii we took a couple of years ago. On RCCL they had a lot of activities planned but on Princess all they had was trivia games and bingo. RCCL had onboard Hawaiin entertainment and activities that Princess did not. Also, Royal Caribbean had an afternoon play that I really enjoyed (and I'm not one to go to plays). The Princess Hawaii trip was good because it was to Hawaii; but if I were to go again, I would go on RCCL to Hawaii. Not to say I don't like Princess because I do. I have an Alaskan Island Princess cruise booked for next summer. Also, be prepared for a lot of the older crowd of people. We had to be careful as to not wake everyone up on the ship in the daytime when we were walking around. We're middle aged ourselves, but at every port in Hawaii, we saw an ambulance waiting......
Happy Cruising.....Anita
