Plenty of car rentals in Juneau... all major chains at the airport, but that's a $30+ cab ride from the ship piers each way too... Rent-a-Wreck is the only company in Juneau with a drop-off/pickup service (additional fee) that many people take advantage of. The shuttles from the docks to Mendenhall Glacier DO NOT stop anywhere else, so if you wanted to see the Brewery also, you're looking at $7 per person each way to/from the Glacier, THEN a $20 cab ride each way... For a group of 2, that's $68... for which you should be able to rent a car. Convenience factor is high if you have your own wheels here. (Note, the City Bus stops 3 blocks from the Brewery and 1.1 miles from Mendenhall Glacier visitor center. Runs about every 30 or 45 minutes if the weather is good.
