Repositioning Cruise and Air Fare

My husband and I are booked on the Norwegian Dream next September from Dover, England to Miami. This will be only our second cruise and our first where we'll need to fly. I have a few questions based on posts to other topics and lists about booking flights.

1. Since we'll be flying one way to England from North Carolina and then one way from Miami back to North Carolina could I really find a lower airfare than that which Norwegian has? I've done a little checking and haven't found anything lower yet. Perhaps my TA can find something I can't.

2. Does Norwegian allow any flexibility about when we will fly? We would like to fly over several days before the cruise leaves Dover on September 20th to do some sightseeing.

3. If we book through NCL and there's no flexibility when will we be notified about our flight schedule?

This will only be our second cruise, and we were able to drive to the port for the first one so didn't have to deal with flight schedules.

Thanks for your advice.

If you book your hotels through NCL, they'll book you air flight independent of the cruise. If you don't, they'll book your air flight to arrive the day of the cruise, or the day before if there isn't one arriving in time that day.
But asking for a flight several days in advance without booking a hotel is asking NCL to be too flexible. I'm not sure they will.

But it never hurts to ask. Just let them know what your plans are. Also, if NCL will not, use a different travel agent. You don't have to book through NCL.
