Return time to port canavral

I have a flight leaving Orlando to come back home after a cruise on the Dream. My flight leaves Orlando at 10:45 am. The Itinerary states we will be returning at 8am but I am hearing that the ship returns earlier. I don’t think I will make the flight back if the ship returns at 8am. Any thoughts.

Thanks

Considering the port is about 45 min to 1 hour drive, to the airport, I would say ummmmm no. :) Anything is possible and if you do make the flight, buy a lottery ticket. Even if the ship does arrive in port early, it still has to clear before they start disembarking passengers.

One drunken idiot who forgets to pay their bill, the entire ship gets held up. I sailed the Dream this past Nov. (loved it !!!!) and we got to the airport at 11:00 ish. We did the ship transfers which was very smooth. I did not want the hassle to rent a car. It is an easy drive tho.

What you want to know is when the ship clears customs and begins allowing people to get off the ship. You have to be on your way to the airport by 8:45am or you could have trouble making this flight. This does not mean you are off the ship by 8:45am. It means you are in a car or taxi and are on 528 and headed west. For this a lot of things have to go right. The ship could be late for any number of reasons. It could take longer to clear customs for any number of reasons. There could be a traffic accident on 528.

Do you have refundable tickets? Because you are risking a lot otherwise. If you are late to the airport (a very real possibility in this case) what is your plan B?

I would not recommend any flights before 12:30pm out of Orlando.

I agree. 10:45 is too early :(

You have to check in for your flight one hour prior to departure if you want to check bags. That means check in no later than 9:45. I just don't see that happening.

I would suggest taking the $$ hit and change your tickets. No need to spend your entire cruise worrying about making your flight.

Have a great cruise :spyglass:

I agree with the above. 10:45 is pushing it even under the best conditions. We were on the Dream last year and we were back in Port Canaveral just before 6 am. Self Assist began at 6:45, and Platinum members (Zones 1 & 2) began debarking at 7:10. Even so, you still need to wait for luggage (if not doing self assist), and go thru customs. Even so, we weren't on the road til after 8. This IMHO was the best it could be, and probably not matched week after week. Maybe you'll get lucky....
