What is the policy on the Millenium about returning from port to ship with wine and food. We would like to take some to our room and bring some back home with us. Also, can we bring wine that we purchased in port to dinner? We are cruising the Mediterranean if that info makes a difference.

Thanks!

Food returning to the ship = no problem mon.
Food off the ship to return = Dept Agriculture etc etc. country at the end of the cruise plus your own.

Wine on is no problem and you can take it to dinner and pay a corkage fee. which is curently around $10.00 I think. White arrange with the wine guy or your waiter to chill it. Red just take it along to dinner.

Thank you for the info!

More questions on this topic, do we have to pay any fees for consuming the wine in our room? Do we have to pay a duty fee for wine and food we bring back to the states? Any idea what the duty is?

Just returned from a Mediterranean cruise on the Millennium this past Tuesday. It was fantastic. Our group brought over a case of wine on board for dinner. The corkage fee is $12.00 per bottle. Each day just give the wine you world like to have at dinner to your cabin steward along a note containing your table number, cabin number and your seating. When you arrive at your table the wine will be waiting for you (whites will be appropriately chilled). We had no problem bring wine on board from the ports. Greece and Croatia had surprisingly wonderful wines.

Thanks for the info!

So, any wines in particular from either of these countries stand out? My husband's entire family LOVES wine so any reccomendations would be great.

Did you go to Capri? What would be the one thing not to miss there?

Any other must see or do in other places?

I have not tasted Croatian wines yet(not readily available in Northeast US), but Greek dessert wines are superb values vs. US/German/Canadian.

you will not be able to bring certain foods back with you into the states ---suggest you check with customs before hand as to what you are allowed to carry in to the usa

Is there a corkage fee if you bring a bottle of wine to dinner that someone gave you from the ship as a gift?

I personally loved the Blue Grotto in Capri, Barbara. A boat ride into a cave where the light and water color it all blue. I even swam in there.

There should be no corkage fee for a bottle of wine bought through the cruise company.
Just tell the waiter or wine steward that the wine was a gift you received on board.
