I understand you had some disappointment with the food and you are, of course, entitled to your opinion, but I thought I would throw in my 2 cents as a seasoned cruiser. I've been on 7 Carnival Cruises, including the Glory in 2004, and about to leave on the Glory again this Saturday. Never has my food been luke warm.

Tip: when eating from a buffet, first walk around the buffet and look at what is offered and make some decisions about what you would like before even taking a plate. Next, make your cold food selections, i.e. salad bar, fruit, etc and take them to your table and eat them. After that, return to the buffet and serve yourself the hot foods that looked good to you when you scanned the buffet offerings earlier. Walking around with hot food on your plate trying to decide what to eat, OR leaving hot food on the table while eating your salad will surely result in luke warm or even cold food.

If you happen to have the experience of dining room food being cold -- send it back.

I appreciate your comments on how to negotiate a buffet line. It is basically the same process used on shore. The simple fact of the matter is, the food was not hot. In reading other reviews of this ship, I've noticed the same comment from more than one person - on both the Red Sail and the dining room. I'm happy you've never recieved luke warm food. Congratulations. Doesn't change the fact that our food was not hot, it was luke warm and quickly assumed room temperature once removed from heat lamps on line.

As I said in my review, I gave the Red Sail a grade of C - which is average. It was by no means spectacualr in any sense of the word and even if the food had been piping hot, I probably would graded it a B - an above average buffet. As far as the dining room is concerned, an F for the food was whooly deserved. The two meals eaten there did not even come close to the level Carnival advertises. One should not have to send a meal back in a quality dining establishment - much less 4 out of the six delivered to the table on the first night. And returning a an improperly prepared prime rib for a properly prepared prime rib would not have chaged the fact that the prime rib was mainly fat indicating it was not quality meat to begin with (or was improperly prepped berfore cooking).

As I also said in my review, the biggest dissapointment was the lack of attention to detail. Failing to clean tables after the previous occupants dishes were removed, etc.

Interesting how I just got back from the Glory yesterday and have a 100% Opposite experience and NO Luke warm or cold food. NONE of the service issues you mention and ALL details attended to that you mention, Perhaps cruising does not meet your vacation needs.

Very possible that cruising does not meet my vacation needs - or that my expectations are greater than yours. Either way, I'm happy your cruise was all you expected it to be.

Hi Gary, I hope you will give cruising and Carnival another try. Sometimes things happen that can cause some disappointment. My wife and I have just 15 cruises under our belt, but we have experienced a couple of situations that disappointed us at the time. Second night at dinner our assistant waiter got sick and for part of the evening we only had the head waiter. Later another assistant waiter joined in to help, but was apparently not very experienced. On another cruise, we had problems with the lock on our door. It took the better part of the first day on board to get resolution, including having someone working to fix it at 11pm that night. Although we were not happy with either situation, we did not let it affect our cruise and would rate both cruises as excellent (Looking past the one exasperating situation on each cruise).

Good Luck and I hope you try again and have a great time.

Gary...sorry your food was luke warm! I have been on the Glory as well and seemed to have no problem with food temp but others in our party did....so when it comes to the mouth.....we are all individual. Hot to you may not be hot to someone else. I would not give up on Carnival because of that reason.

Hello again....Gary I just finished reading your review and good gracious do not take a 4 or 5 day cruise.....I have to tell you that if you were not happy with a 7 then the shorter cruise you will not be happy with. Shorter cruises tend to be less attentive than the longer cruises. I was curious why you did not order your coffee to be delivered to your room. If you put the request on your door knob and request 7am by god your coffee is there at 7am sharp and you would not have to search for it. There must have been a rush of coffee drinkers on your cruise....I to love my coffee and never had a problem finding the 6 locations in the Red Sail alone to get coffee. As far as the balcony door I would have contacted the pursers desk so they could have maintinence fix you door asap. I understand that you asked the steward but once it was not fixed then you should always call the purser. Just some info for you. I would hope that you do not give up on cruising but maybe you should try Celebirty next time. I think you would enjoy that line much better. Good luck sir.
