Review pending for Victory

Hello all

Apologies for my absence of late, I had some issues with Carnival I had hoped to resolve before posting my review.

I took all the advice I found on forums -

"A cruise is what you make it" - we made it a very good holiday!
"Go with the flow" - we did!
"Don't let the little things bug ya" - there were several "things", but we were going with the flow - until the dog did a pooh in the pool.

So I wrote to Carnival and I listed the "little things" which I was prepared to live with until the final straw of dog pooh in the pool.

They have just sent me a letter saying we can have 75$ on board credit which is valid for 18 months.

I am amazed they assume we will travel with Carnival again.

So no review yet, I'm still too angry.

Hello all

Yes it was a service dog. The owner was a young girl with MS, she was in a wheelchair and travelling with her father.

Her father was in the pool and beckoned to the dog who jumped in. They were having a great time until the dog got out and stood in the shallow edge around the pool and poo'd. There was an audible "Oooh" from the people around. The man got out to retrieve some palstic bags but by his time the poo had floated into the deeper water, yuck!

They closed the pool, that was on the last day.

We had been so careful all week, constantly washing our hands etc. But to see this was so bad. They don't let babies in nappies (diapers to you) in the pools so why was a dog allowed?

To be honest I don't know why she brought the dog on the cruise. She had an electric wheelchair and her Dad on hand.

OK maybe some people need their service dogs with them all the time, but this girl didn't.

I am surprised security didnt jump in on that issue.

I agree that going with the flow is a good thing but when many little things are happening to make your vacation hell it gets hard to go with the flow. Only remember that it happened. get passed it and plan another vacation. Live and learn. DO NOT let one trip spoil it for the rest of your life. There is better out there.

I am curious as to why you are blaming Carnival for something that one of the guests did... the father allowed the dog in the pool and it sounds like the "pooh" happened before anyone from Carnival knew what had happened...... This could've happened on any cruise that allowed service animals.... which I do believe they all do. So why is this Carnival's fault? You said they "closed the pool immediately"....and since it was the last day.....hadn't you already had a good week without this incident?

Folks that are always so quick to blame the cruiseline and expect them to make it up to you.....just really get me....

I can't imagine what that father was thinking. Security should have been called IMMEDIATELY and I wouldn't blame Carnival for fining him for his actions. I thought service animals were just that-SERVICE-and not supposed to "play." It must have been a very "distasteful" experience for you and I sympathize, but it was the last day. How was the rest of the week??

I don't want to get into a row about service dogs. I actually like dogs!

It doesn't matter how well trained the dog was, or how indispensible she was to her owner.

The whole point is that it should not have been allowed in the pools, yes plural. I have since heard that it had been in the other pool earlier. I wondered why it had been drained and closed too.

I feel it was Carnival's responsibility to see that the dog was kept on a leash when in public areas. That would have prevented the whole sorry incident from happening. That is my point.

Like I said before, we were going with the flow and not letting the little things bug us. There were things that I would have let go, but when this happened, on the last day, it just made all those little things seem worth complaining about. So I did.

BUT, we had a great holiday and we will cruise again - no doubt!
