I'm going on my first cruise leaving from Galveston, TX next month as that is the closest port from where I live. Is the Rhapsody a good ship? I don't hear it mentioned much on the forum.

Thanks,

Jaime

Thanks #1Nana. I am really excited about going on a cruise for the first time. Since I don't have anything to compare it with, I'm sure I'll love it!

I've been on most all of the RCCL ships, and Rhapsody is one of the better ones. Not gargantuan, yet definitely a first rate cruise ship. Mind you, I'm not a big fan of the super de duper mega tonnage monstrous moving city block ships that RCCL is coming out with, but I love cruising, so I am not that particular.

The Rhapsody is awesome! Lots of fun activities. It's especially handy to have your Cruise Compass and a map of the ship decks (available at the pursers desk) with you at all times.

Take advantage of the nights they take formal and casual pictures, you don't have to choose any.. but you just might find one you like!

We enjoyed the Shall We Dance Lounge, Schooner Bar, etc. The Viking Crown was nice, but crowd seemed a bit young (allow 18 & up).

My favorite were the line dancing classes/events. Too many activites to mention, make sure you sample several.

It was a great trip! Hoping to plan another on Voyager in March 2008.

The Rhapsody is a good choice. If Derek Lewis is in the Schooner Bar, be sure to catch his kamikaze karaoke.
