Is anyone going on the Dream from New Orleans Jan. 23/ 05? I've heard mixed reviews about Norwegion. This will be my third cruise. I've been with Carnival in 1992 and Royal Carribean in 1999.I'm looking forward to leaving the cold weather behind in Alberta Canada!

My husband and I will be on the same sailing. We too are looking forward to escaping the cold we have here in Wisconsin. I have some concerns about the Dream, however our last cruise was on Carnival Fantasy and it had very mixed reviews at the time aswell, and we had a great trip. I think it is all in what you make it. I tend to see the glass as half full, and plan to have a great trip. I have been watching the forcast for our ports and so far in the 10 day forcast they all stay in the 80's, so how bad could it be.

That sounds great! I'm sure it will be fine. Have you been notified by the cruise line as to what cabins you've been assigned to yet. We haven't even got our tickets in the mail. I called my travel agent yesterday and he said it should be next week. That's cutting it kinda close for my liking. Hope you have a great time!

We booked a set cabin 5035. We got our docs about a month ago. We also booked out own flights. We fly in on Saturday and will stay one night in NO.

We booked on Dec 10-04 and I booked an inside cabin because it was the cheapest way to go. We used our air miles for flights and hotel rooms in New Orleans. We are flying in on Friday the 21st so we get 2 nights to check out N.O. A friend that I work with and his wife went to N.O. last year for a week and said it was his best vacation ever so he told us where to go and what to do while we are there. The hotel front dest clerk said the N.O. is very rough so don't venture off the beaten path. We are staying in the French Quarter,we were told that it is close to the pier. If I get our room #'s in the next week I'll let you know and we could maybe get together for a cocktail while on board. I'm going with my friend from work.

I hope you get your stuff soon, the waiting would just drive me crazy. Less than 2 weeks, we are getting so excited. I am sure we will all have a great vacation, the weather is still looking good maybe in the 80's but from the weather pattern looks like we might have some rain. We are booked for cave tubing in Belize and the canopy tour in Roatan through the ship.

Finally received our tickets this afternoon. We did get an upgrade from and inside cabin to an outside so this will be a first. Our room # is 4242 I hope to meet up with you on the ship. Our names are Leah and Linda. 8 more sleeps I'm so excited. Our weather here was -51 celcius with the windchill. -38 without. VERY cold. See you then.

An upgrade is worth the waiting! Only 9 sleeps for us, though I probably won't do much sleeping on the 9th night! Are you two packed yet? My hubby thinks I am crazy to have started packing last week. I need to pull out all of his stuff yet, and check if they all still fit him. He hates to try on clothes, so it should be a fun weekend! Enjoy your final week of cold before our warm winter excape.

Oh yes, I've been "collecting" things for about 2 weeks. We went and did some shopping for sunscreen and bugspray. I heard that bugspray was a must in Belize and who knows what you would pay for it if you could even find it over there. I was reading over my documents and it's too late to pre book shore excursions, they wanted 2 weeks prior to cruising so hopefully the swim with the dolphins tour won't be sold out.

I got mine book, though the dolphin tour wasn't one we chose. You could maybe try calling NCL to prebook. I just went through all of the things I was planning to pack and eliminated a few items. Hubby just said he wants to pack light, that is good as I will need the extra space! LOL I think we will go to the pier around noon, hopefully the lines won't be too long.

That was our thought as well. I'm thinking that Sat night in N.O. might be a late one. We have to check out of our hotel by 11 so we can sleep in a little. Can you start boarding that early though?

I have read that they begin boarding around11:30. I have seen the dailies from the Dream and they advertise a lunch buffet starting at noon, and lunch in the dining room begins at 12:30.

I too will be floating as I'm leaving my soon to be 16 year old at home.I'm a little nervous about that. I have my mom and sister staying through the school week {exam week} but he's home on his own for the weekends. His young life has been threatened if he decides to have big parties here! I'm 35 and Linda is a very very young 50ish. We have travelled together before and have such a good time. I am getting so excited. At least the weather has warmed up a little it's now -24 celcius. If you can believe it,it does feel "balmy" ha ha.

I started packing today! I just checked the weather, looks like we should have great weather, a little cool in NO, but in the 80's the rest of the trip. I am getting so excited, we only have a few days left. How about you, any time to pack yet?

I'm pretty much packed and I have 3 more sleeps and 2 more days to work. I am so excited now. We have to be at the airport on Friday at 0430 as our plane leaves at 630.It's an hour drive to the airport so it will be a long day. I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Well, what did you think, did you have a good trip? Did you have any trouble flying out on Sunday? We had a very nice cruise, but had lots of trouble flying. Thought the juggler and comedian were great. The singer just wasn't our thing, though she did have a great voice. So glad we made it to all of our ports, and had good weather most days. Did you do any of the ship tours? We went cave tubing and did the canopy tour, they were both a blast. Well, I am sorry its over, guess its time to start planning the next one.

Hello
We had a horrible day on Sunday with travel arrangements. Started off first thing in the morning by having to be up at 630am to go and retrieve our passports and clear US customs. Then we had to wait until 1040 to disembark. We got to the airport and our flight didn't leave until 315 so hanging around the airport is no fun. Our flight to Toronto was on a tiny little plane with just 2 seats to a row and I sat beside a great big guy that snored all the way because they were in N.O only for the night to attend a one hour meeting on Sunday so he was VERY hungover. Air miles booked our flight with only a one hour layover in Toronto, our flight was late coming in and we were told we had to retrieve our luggage from our flight and then clear Canadian customs with our bags, put them on a different baggage belt and then jump on a shuttle to get us to terminal one. Needless to say they bumped us off our 800pm flight and rebooked us on a 1015pm flight. The agent said she had 30 empty seats so she would leave the middle seat open so we could get some sleep.Yeah right the flight ended up being completely full and to top it off we were half hour late sitting on the runway because a passenger that was suppose to be on the flight was not and they had to unload his baggage from the plane!!!! It was a horrible day, 22 hours later we were home.
As for the cruise I thought it was only OK. The entertainment was terrible!! By far the worst of any of the other 2 ships I was on. That female singer was absolutely horrible,we got up and left after 2 songs, wasn't my cup of tea. The comedian was OK. I did not like the layout of the ship and how they had the different lounges set up so close together. There were terrible odors in many parts of the ship at times,"musty" the carpets were wet coming down some of the flights of stairs. The food was edible but not great. The service in the dining room that we had for the captains dinner was horrible. We were a table of 6 and our plates remained on the table finished for close to 10 minutes, and that was after the last person was done eating. My water glass never was refilled and remained empty most of the time. We just ate at the sports bar most of the time after that. I'm not one to sit around so long waiting for different courses to arrive. I did like the freestyle dining because your not on such a schedule and you meet different people every meal. As far as the cruise went I don't know if I would go with Norwegion again. We didn't pick that great of Shore excursions. We did the "Pirates,Birds and Monkey's in Roatan I liked it, but in the description of it they didn't indicate that you would end up at this beautiful beach at the end of the day with chairs and it was totally empty, it was just us from the tour there but we didn't bring our swimsuits so we just walked around in the very warm water. That was a disapointment. In Belize we did the airboat/city tour. It absolutely sucked!! The description was not at all what we saw, there were no manatees feeding, the tour guides would point them coming out of the water for air, yeah right!! The rest of us certainly didn't see a thing. No crocodiles, 1 little tiny baby in the weeds that was it, just the same old birds through the half hour boat ride. It was terrible and a waste of 89 us dollars. Once back into Belize I was so tired of the pushy men trying to take you on a tour of the city and in your face not taking "NO THANKS" for an answer. I did not feel safe there and would never go back to that filth. It was Soooo dirty!!! Cancun and Cozumel were OK. It was nice to get away as it always makes me appreciate my life and how grateful and lucky I am to live in Canada.
Now New Orleans was the highlite of my trip I LOVED it and am planning on going back for a week. 2 days was not nearly enough it was only a little teaser. I loved the people, the french Quarter, the french market, Bubba Gumps shrimp company {the food was to die over} the swamp tour we did. I loved it all.

Overall it was a good holiday. I tried calling you in your room a few times but could never catch you around. We were at the casino alot. I lost my shirt but my friend did OK at least she was up money.
The next trip I want to go somewhere for a week and relax. I found with 4 ports it wasn't all that relaxing as you were always on some type of schedule. I would like to go to Cuba or Dominican Republic and take my son with a friend of his. That's what the plan is.
