Hello:

New to the forum here, and it looks like this is a very active one!

I just booked Room 1201 on Century for our western carribean cruise. Celebrity's website depicts this room as either Sky Suite (w/ large decks) or a regular suite with smaller deck, depending on where you go. Call to celebrity didn't clarify things either.

We've sailed on the Millenium last year in a suite on the penthouse deck, and it had a rather small deck, so we decided to go for the larger sky suite this year; but it sounds like this one might be just like the suite on the penthouse deck???

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thank you!

There are no reg. suites on Century anymore, they changed them to Sky suites which were always the same size cabin anyway, it was always the balcony that was larger on the Sports deck Sky suites. The cabin you booked 1201 is going to have a very large balcony 144 sq. ft. and the cabin will be 244 sq. ft. it is a great cabin and I love that deck :thumb enjoy your cruise :wave

Room 1201 (and 1200) do not have a 142 sq ft balcony. It is either 72 or 74 sq ft. It is not the same room as the other Sky Suites - different category. We've stayed in 1201 and 1203 and anyone else who has stayed in them will tell you the same.

Thank you for the info. I've heard that the balcony on 1201 is indeed smaller than the others on the sports deck, but is larger than the ones found on the penhouse deck. We've sailed the millenium last year, and had a suite on the penthouse deck, so we'll compare and see. I'll take pictures and will provide a link for future reference (We're sailing on 7/31! )

It maybe smaller but it is now the same cat. It is a sky suite they eliminated cat 1 suites and all the cabins on the sports deck are sky suites except of course the inside. I was going by the diagram in the brochure which shows it being the same size. The Galaxy shows those cabins as being smaller but the Century ones looked the same and we have stayed in the regular Sky suites near the center on the Sky deck and and loved the location. Even if the balcony isn't as large it is a great location.

Edited to add: the orig Sky suites and the orig Cat 1 were always the same size cabin, now they are just both called sky suites.

I spoke to several people at Celebrity before booking room 1204 and they told me that 1201, 1202 and 1204 all had 144 sq ft. balconies. Each of of the people I spoke with put me on hold and check with several others but none of them were on the ship. I guess I'll see when I get there.

Hello:

Just reporting back, as promised. We just got back from our Western Caribbean cruise (sail date 7/31), and had a terrific time!

I saw that room 1220 became available prior to our cruise, so I changed the room from 1201 to 1220. It was a good move.

Contrary to what Celebrity states, Rooms 1201(and 1200) DO NOT have the large balconies. They are about 1/2 the size of other suites on that floor. Furthermore, you lose the "private" portion of the balcony--i.e. part that's covered. Anyone walking around on Deck 14 above can peer right down onto you, and you have no privacy!

Also, 1201 and 1200 are the suites closest to the "busy" part of deck 12 (surrounding the pool), further compromizing your privacy.

So if you care about those things, I would try to switch. I think the suites on the Penthouse deck are preferable to 1201 and 1200, since privacy and quiet are pretty important for us. Having said that, however, the location of these Sky Suites are fantastic! We enjoyed just going down a flight of stairs to go to the Islands cafe, to the pool, Gym, Spa, etc. Everything was just so convenient!

Of course, if you can find any other suites on deck 12, those would be the top choice...best of both worlds.
