Room cards

Just a couple of questions from a first time cruiser. When you get on board and are given a room card for charging drinks, do they provide you with a wrist band or necklace type chain for the card or do you just have to find a way to carry the card (like in your pocket)?

Also, how much is beer on board the ship? And mixed drinks (like rum & coke)?

Thanks again for any information!

On our cruise last summer they sold lanyards in the gift shop and they would punch a hole in the card to connect to the lanyard. The lanyard's weren't all that expensive and was another small souveneer of our cruise. It was quite convenient.

If not then we put in your pocket as you mention.

If you are a beer drinker -- buy a helmet. there's a $5 deposit; you get it back when you return the bucket or you can keep it as a souvenier. Anyway, you pay for 5 beers & get six. I think domestic was about $18 & import about $22-23. You can take the ones you don't finish to your cabin to keep in the 'fridge or on ice.

Mixed drinks ran the gamut -- well drinks + 1 mixer ~ $3.50; call or frozen thingies ~ $5-6 w/ souvenier cup (you must say you don't want these things or you'll be charged for them) certain premium cordials, cocktails, champagne etc. about $10-15.

:cheers

One suggestion for carrying your room card the worked well for me was a "badge holder" that I purchased from the office supply store. It was a black & plastic holder attached to a black lanyard that went around my neck. It had one clear plastic pocket, where I kept my room card and driver's license, and another open pocket to keep a few spare dollars. It also had one small zippered compartment where I could tuck a credit card when we left the ship.
