Room Service - timing?

Saw the thread about tipping for room service - which make me wonder...

Anyone have an idea about the timing of room service delivery? Can you ask for delivery to be a certain time? Or if we want coffee/juice around 8:00 AM, how much in advance should we order it?

I'm assuming there are no coffeemakers in the cabins, (unlike hotel rooms) due to the fire concerns... or are there?

Hello Angelsis,

No, no coffemakers in the room.

As for room service, Yes you can request a specific time. In your cabin you will find the room service menus for breakfast on cards, made for hanging on your cabin door. Fill it out at night, and put it on the outside of your cabin door (just like a do not disturb sign) . There will be a place on the card to check off the time you wish the breakfast to be delivered. It's usually a time range, like : Between 7:30 to 7:45 am.

For the other meals (and if you forgot to put out the card for breakfast, the menu is in a book in the cabin, Just call. Delivery time varies. I've had it take anywhere from ten minutes to as long as forty. If it's breakfast on a sea day, it's going to take a while. Other days, and other meals have seemed to arrive quicker. (They usually do not have any room service available on debarkation day.)

By the way, if there is something you want, and you don't see it on the menu just write it in. Depending on the cruise line, you will likely get whatever you ask for. You can ask for unusual things when ording by phone also, but that isn't always so easy, do to the language barrier that invariably exists between you and person who answer for room service.

RS : "Ow July dee baychem...crease?"

Guest : "Crisp will be fine"

Gayle,

I'm ROFL - that is hysterical! I'll be looking for the door hanger card! Less than two weeks for you! Besids the ticker countdowns, I gauge our cruise departure by the number of times I'll have my roots touched up! Only two more to go :)

What is so funny? It sounds like you have been tapping my cabin telephone! That is the same conversation I have had on numerous occasions.

Just kidding. That is just too funny! And too accurate!!!
