Silly question
How much do tip for room service , if room service is free? Do you look assume what it would cost if you brought it the store. Is there a formula to calculated a proper tip?

Don’t do as my SIL did. On our last cruise she wanted to stay in one AM and I told her to tip the person at least 2 bucks. I found out later she didn’t tip the person anything. She didn’t think she had too where room service is free. Well the next few times she called for room services it never came. When she called to check on it the reply was things are running late.
Moral of the story is….. Don’t forget the tip

No generic rule to follow. Remember that these people work for tips.

When ordering coffee in the morning dont forget the condiments---creamers/sugars or lemon for tea. Also ask for condiments when ordering sandwiches---chips OR pretzels. mustart or mayo..
I usually tip 2-3 bucks depending on what they bring.

Tip when service is rendered as you may not see the server again.

Soda cards are not good for room service.

I ususally tip 1 dollar if its just coffee, and cookies, for a full meal , breakfast, or lunch, i tip 2 if you just order a sandwhich and nothing else, no drink or cookies or cake, i personally would tip 1 dollar... if i ordered it all as well as my traveling companion, we would tip 2 dollars

Thanks for the "tips"! We ordered once last cruise, because our DS was sick. I guess it was lucky for us that it was our last day on the ship, becuse I didn't remember to tip the porter who brought the food! It's good to know these things!

We always tip at least $2.00 regardless if its just coffee or sandwiches. They have to walk just as far with a pot of coffee as they do with a sandwich......... and $1.00 seems cheap to me....... Just my opinion.....

We put a stack of $1.00 bills in a an envelope in the drawer when we arrive........and just pull out at least
2 for each room service delivery...

We also tip about 2 dollars for every room service delivery. They do work for tips and aren't part of the tips posted to your sail and sign card on the ship.

I'm usually crusing solo. I tip $1 for just coffee and Danish, but $2 if I order sandwich, cookies, veggies & dip, etc.

I don't ever tip more than that - because I rationalize that the cabin steward gets only $3.50 for a full day's work, so even though the room service delivery person needs a tip, it's minimal for that one little trip, y'know? (I keep a stack of one's in the top dresser drawer, as well.)

we usually tipped 2 dollars for the delivery and I would leave a dollar on the empty tray for the person that took the tray away. Besides the fact that they work for tips I have always enjoyed the attitude I see in the friendly people when they bring your food or beverage. To me it's worth the few dollars for such good service.
