My wifeand I are taking our 16th cruise on MS Rotterdam. This is our second one on this ship. All of our other cruises have been on different ships and cruise lines; both good and bad. There are two other couples sailing with us; which is another first. We usually sail "stag".

We are looking for recommendations for shore excursion either though the ship or from independent operators. This cruise stops at Limon, Costa
rica; Cartegena, Columbia; Aruba and Curacao. Any suggestions will be welcome.

Rotterdam is docking at Cartegena? HAL had stopped going there for a while; didn't know they were returning? We are booked on the Rotterdam for March on the Southern Caribbean/Panama Canal cruise and we go to HMC, Curacao, Aruba, Panama Canal (Gatun Lake) Costa Rica and back to FLL.

We didn't stop at Colombia last year on this same cruise, and I believe that they have removed it this year as well. We ended up spending more time in Aruba, but I don't know if that will be the case this year. My brother took the Jungle River Cruise in Costa Rica, and he really enjoyed himself. He said that the guides were wonderful and the food that they provided was delicious, and they also encountered several animals and brought back gorgeous pictures. They were gone almost the full eight hours, but he said that he would do it again in a heartbeat. Our friend took the Tortuguero Canal tour and said there were plenty of animals seen and a wonderful time had by all. In Aruba we took the Natural Wonders tour that went to the Butterfly farm and the natural bridge as well as the rock formations. It was a nice tour, and the guide was very friendly and helpful. We have some wonderful pictures of rare butterflies, and found the guides at the farm humerous as well as informative. We went early in the morning, which is apparently the key to most of these tours,as the day goes on, the less animals stir about and the more hot it becomes. After the tour in Aruba, we went back to the ship for lunch, and then ventured out for some shopping. There are some nice bargains to be had in Aruba. In Curacao, we went about on our own. In fact, you could walk from the ship to the middle of town, and it was very pleasant. I'm sure there are others who took different tours, and they will probably answer with better advice than I have given. We look forward to meeting you aboard in December.
