Royal Caribbean and Teens

Deck Crew
We are taking our first cruise in 20 years on January 10 (Freedom of the Seas). My 18 year old daughter is being told by her co-workers that since we are not going to be on Carnival it is an "Old" persons cruise. Can anybody put her mind at ease?

Thanks

Ed

FAR from the truth..esp the class of ship you picked....your daughter will have a great time...............all ages, trust me! If she's outgoing at all,I bet she makes friends who she will want to hang out with.........

Have fun!

If you take me serious, it's your problem
great class of ship, sailed the enchantment of the seas in july... Loved it!! there are plenty of things for a young lady her age to do(and cost daddy).

she'll certainly love the pool deck. most of the lounges have good music. the Freedom has a pretty good dance club if i recall correctly. there is an internet cafe(a bit pricey though), there is always a good spot to read a good book... She should have a great time. Although if she goes into it with a negative attitude she will keep herself from having an even better time.

I find that Carnival being labled the "fun" ship implies that other cruiselines are not fun or are only for old people. This misnomer is simply not true. I'm a 40something kid.. I refuse to grow up and act my age!! I do not like stuffy, boring activities, and i had a great time cruising on RCCL.... She will too!!!

I agree 100%. She'll have a great time on Royal Caribbean. Such a wide variety of things to do. There is something for everyone.

Hey Germ300, this is an opportunity for a little training from you for your daughter.

Have her ask her coworkers which cruise lines that they have cruised with. I'd be willing to bet that the answer will be only Carnival [or none]. Everyone with a miniumum amount of information thinks that they are an expert and usually a couple of second level questions will expose them. I bet she will get a kick out of listening to their respose.

Royal Caribbean beats Carnival, hands down, especially for her age group...

We've cruised on seven different cruise lines over the years, most with our two daughters as they grew up from the ages of 3 and 5 on...(they're now 23 and 25)...Their favorite line, by far, is Royal Caribbean...My older daughter, Heather, went on her first cruise without us last year--her and her old college roomie--They chose the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas. For one week, they surfed, they rock climbed, they ice skated, they sang Karaoke...they had the time of their lives.

Heather's been on several Royal Caribbean cruises...and a few Carnivals as well...
She doesn't like Carnival...finds them tacky...Doesn't think they offer a lot to do except to just "hang out"...she by far prefers Royal Caribbean for all the stuff they have geared toward younger people...

The younger sister agrees...
We'll be on Mariner of the Seas in two weeks and she's upset we're not taking her (she just graduated college and is working her first job and doesn't get any vacation time yet)...

Oh how wrong her co-workers are. We went on the Liberty two years ago and were blown away!! The amount of activities, especially for the late teenaged crowd, are fantastic. I would bet your daughter would have less fun on ANY carnival ship than the Freedom. Tell her not to worry...it'll be the time of her life!! Happy sailing!!

As everyone has stated, you and your daughter will LOVE it!!!! We just got home from our first cruise (aboard the Freedom during Christmas). We took our 17 year old son (didn't see him much except for dinner being he was too busy), as well as our 20 year old son and his girlfriend, and they had the time of their lives!!! Though your daughter is 18, she won't be able to enjoy some of the activities of the 15-17 year old croud (she may not want too), there is plenty to do for the 18-20 age group. The Crypt disco/nightclub is a pretty popular spot. Make sure you get her to enjoy the many great shows that are put on. If the Cruise Director is Allen Brook, you won't want to miss anything he's involved with - my wife and I couldn't get enough of his energetic personality, and that includes the adult scavenger hunt called The Quest in Studio B at 10 pm late in the cruise.
