My family and I are sailing on the Mariner in February. This is our 6th cruise but our first in a suite. Wondering if anyone has stayed in a family suite? What's it like??

I've been told by my travel agent that the Royal Family Suite will accomodate 8 guests.

I've been curious about getting a suite. How much is the royal family suite costing?

For our family of 5 it's costing us almost $10,000 for a 7 night cruise to the Caribbean. This includes a small discount for being Platinum members. It's an indulgence!

Not a bad price if you want to split it with another couple or maybe 5 singles together.

martha24, what ship and when? We are going on the Legend on Dec. 10, 2005 with 5 in the Royal Family Suite and it is costing us $4,300. $1,500 for the first 2 and $299 for the other 3. The web site does say that it will accomodate up to 7 or 8.

Ewheelock,

I was flabbergasted when I saw your post so I checked into it (cause I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off!!). I spoke to a Crown and Anchor specialist who told me that there is a price difference because the Mariner is a Voyager class ship, the suite is larger and the balcony is 4x larger, and the Mariner suites come with concierge service. The rates are also higher for the week we are sailing because it's a school vacation week. You should see our airfare rates for this week - it's disgusting, but we don't have any other way to get to Florida from New York!!

Martha24, I checked and for my sailing date in dec. on the mariner would be $6500.00. This is a graduation cruise for my dd and she picked the ship, itenerary and the suite. I just wish that it had the concierge service but you can't have everything! Have a great time on your cruise.

We had friends stayed in a family suite on Voyager. Walk into a bedroom size room witha sofa bed, to the left was a room with a queen size bed to the right a room with a bunk bed could sleep 6. NO balcony and they paid about 8,000 for the week. said they would have been better off with two adjoining rooms space wise and bathroom wise.

The two bathrooms is the only reason that we got the RFS. The owners suite looks better with a bigger balcony but it only has 1 bathroom so we went with 5 people (the 5th probably won't go) to get the RFS.

Just got back from a week on the MARINER in a Family Suite - it was the absolute best way to go for our family. Kids had interior bedroom (2 beds, 2 pullman) a walk-in closet and their own bathroom with shower. Parents had master bedroom with 3 closets, tv, and master bath with Roman tub and marble counters. The living area had a dining room table with 4 chairs, 2 club chairs with stools, a sleeper sofa, refrig, tv with surround sound, dvd and stereo. Balcony was 200sq. ft - HUGE! It had a round table with 3 chairs and 2 chaise lounges. If we didn't want to deal with the crowd at the pool we could lay out on our own balcony. Our cabin was 8694, at the very back of the ship, and our balcony was literally 1/3 of the width of the end of the ship. Conceirge service was cool- there is a private key to the conciege club in your room along with Royal Caribbean stationery with your name imprinted on it. The Concierge was wonderful and she would bend over backwards to do anything for you. Concierge club had free happy hour with appetizers, continental breakfast, and about 200 DVDs and CDs to borrow.
For our family, this was, by far ,the best way to go on a cruise - well worth the money!
