Going on a family cruise in 2008. . .preferably May. Already been on the Holiday in Mobile but we wanted to go on a different ship. . .bigger if possible. Husband won't fly so we've planned to drive 12 hours to Tampa to cruise (as opposed to the 4 hours to Mobile). but i've heard they are trying to get a bigger ship in Mobile. Does anybody know anything about that? If so, can you shed some more light on the situation?

Thanks,
Amy

For the past several months, there have been reports/rumors that the Sensation will "homeport" in Mobile. But, as of now, the rumors are no more than that. Rumors.

Just returned from a cruise on the Holiday last Saturday. Having heard all of the rumors, and read several press reports, I made a point of asking crew members about this while on the cruise. There was definitely no consensus of opinion, but the seemingly most reliable sources (the officers) seemed to echo that the decision has already been made that a Fantasy Class ship will be coming to Mobile in the near future; possibly late this year, or in the Spring of '08. I guess we shall see.

we are also hoping for another ship in Mobile. It would be nice if they offered a 7 day from there. We have heard lots of great things about that port. It would be nice. We enjoy New Orleans because of the easy drive and the city it self. Flordia is nice but a long drive down and than home again. I wont fly. Have not since 1991 to many bad flights 8 in all so no more for me beside I get to see so much more of this country if I drive.

dokken,
My husband has a fear of flying i guess. He'd have to be drunk, passed out and carried on a plane. LOL! I've never been on a plane either. Not because i won't but because I've never had a need.

Sure would be nice to have another ship close by. Tampa isn't too bad of a drive. We had to drive to Orlando when we went there on vacation Of course, i sleep most of the way.
