Hello everybody,

We need some advice!
We booked on Golden Princess for S. Caribbean Explorer cruise from San Juan P.R. The ship will visit port of La Guaira (Caracas) in Venezuela. My wife doesn’t have the US citizenship yet and has only the Green Card and foreign passport. I contacted the Consulate of Venezuela in Chicago and they sent me Visa application for travel visa to Venezuela. Just before we start to collect all papers (from work and bank), make pictures and mail original passport with $30 application fee, I’m wondering is it a really necessary for just 7 hours visit? We are planing to take a Princess shore tour in this port and I don’t know if they really check your passport/visa after you leave the ship? Or you can’t return to the ship? Maybe somebody who was in this port/country can give us any info?? Any help will be very appreciated!! Thank you in advance!

Went to La Guera in 2001 and to Caracas for the Murano glass Factory tour and The Home of Simon Bolivar..who is equal to George Washington in Venezuela. both tours were incredible and I like a fool did not get one of the world Famous "Murano" hand glass spun Clowns..about $100.00 then, that retail at glitzy stores for $600.00..so when we go on The Golden next year I am BUYING one for me..Live and learn..not sure about the documentation but better NOT TO Gamble,I'd do the paperwork myself...:)...Joanne

Hi Joanne,

Thank you for your replay. We definitely don’t want to gamble with documents! No way. Plus, I have plenty of time to do it before the cruise. Can’t wait to go!

Thanks again.
