What's happening with Legend of the Seas transatlantic on 30th march 2008?

Morocco has been withdrawn from the itinernary for "safety reasons due to increased militant activity in the area". As far as I can see nothing has changed in Morocco and we are being left to float about in the Med with no compensation. RCCL has been really evasive and won't even offer us a free cocktail, even though this is our honeymoon and we booked it specifically to visit Morocco.

Anyone else on this trip?

Disgruntled of Kent.

Welcome to C@, it is too bad you didnt find us sooner.
Congrats on the new life style change :).

I will bite, I am very ignorant and naive on what is happening over in Morocco. Sorry to hear that they canceled the port. But I would think that they would compensate you by reimbursing the port charges.

On any cruise line, any ship, any itinerary no guarantees that you will make any scheduled port. Ship happens, may it be weather related, mechanical issues, or even a heart attack or unrest in a certain place.

To me, the first priority is that the Capt of the vessel keeps me, the crew, fellow passengers safety in mind.

Every cruise line is out to make a profit. They will do what they can to make the stock holders happy and paying passengers are secondary.......

Hi Suer

It's not the safety issue that bothers me its that Morocco has 2 ports of call we will now miss and the issue of safety seems to be a smokescreen to avoid giving us any kind of acknowledgment that our honeymoon is being significantly altered. When i speak to RCCL they just hide behind their Terms and Conditions. I understand that changes are sometimes inevitable but it would be nice if they said sorry, we understand, let us buy you a beer.

The staff on the ships are usually fantastic but the bereaucratic end of RCCL is dreadful, with no sense of customer service. Its a shame because we love the ships etc but there is always a struggle with the Head Office and it puts me off having anything to do with them.

Morocco is a really popular destination for Eurpeans and indeed, Morocco wants to join the EU so they are not likely to tolerate militant activity because it will jeopardise their entrance into Europe. Furthermore, no other travel agent hear in the UK has heard of any problems in Morocco and they are all still selling holidays there. All seems a bit fishy to me.

Sounds to me this is not the first time, you have contacted the Head Office..................Had troubles before??

Sorry, but its all in their contract.......they are entitled to change itineraries, but even if I was upset of not going to a particular port,I would be glad they changed if it was a safety issue(which is this case).

Not sure why you think this change will significantly alter your honeymoon??? =huh

From your cruise contract:

. Carrier may for any reason, at any time and without prior notice, cancel, advance, postpone or deviate from any scheduled sailing or port of call, or substitute another vessel or port of call, and shall not be liable for any loss whatsoever to Passenger by reason of such cancellation, advancement, postponement, substitution or deviation. In connection with a CruiseTour,

Carrier may for any reason, at any time and without prior notice, cancel, advance, postpone or deviate from any scheduled departure or destination, or substitute another railcar or bus or destination or lodging or other component of the CruiseTour, and shall not be liable for any loss whatsoever to Passenger by reason of such cancellation, advancement, postponement, substitution or deviation.

By way of example, and not limitation, Carrier may deviate from any scheduled sailing and may otherwise land Passenger and his property at any port if Carrier believes that the voyage or any Passenger or property may be adversely affected as a result of hostilities, blockages, prevailing weather conditions, labor conflicts, strikes onboard or ashore, breakdown of Vessel, congestion, docking difficulties or any other cause whatsoever. Similarly, by way of example, and not limitation,

Carrier may at its discretion elect not to visit a location shown on your itinerary.

Thanks for the T & C's of which I am fully aware and have no problem with.

What upsets me is that when RCCL assert their T&C's, and in this instance it may well be for a very good reason, they could at least be a little more considerate of the implications for their customers.

Yes, it has significantly altered my honeymoon - I have been to the Canaries, Med and Caribbean - I haven't been to Morocco and THAT is why I booked THIS cruise - so that it was different and special, because well, I thought thats what honeymoons were all about!

In fact, my wedding was scheduled around this cruise - not the other way around.

And lets not forget i have paid GOOD money for THIS cruise not for a cruise that suits RCCL. I'm not asking for compensation, just a bit of customer service.
