I am a first time poster on this board. I have been on many cruises before having our son. Its been three years since our last cruise and the bug is getting us again! My wife and I are now thinking of doing a 10 day cruise from San Francisco (where we live) to Mexico on Princess with our 15 month old son. It appears that most of the lines charge 50% fare for an infant. Anyone else have feedback about taking a cruise with an infant, and specifically Princess?

I know Princess does not have private babysitting and he is too young for the kids program. Does anyone know any other options? It would be nice to have some nights of dinner and the show with my wife.

I would appreciate any feedback on the above. Thank you very much for your responses.

Just book ASAP if you're serious about going. Princess limits the number of children and is very particular about the number of infants. I think they limit it to 10 on the whole ship per sailing, but my info. on that is 3 yrs. old so check with Princess at 1-800-PRINCESS.

I've seen cribs in cabins and the cabin steward changing the crib sheets every day. It'd be a nice break for your wife to have someone else doing that for 11 days.

I would bring an umbrella stroller, a favorite blankey, stuffed animal and his favorite toys. Also, don't forget swim diapers.

Bringing along a young child isn't the ideal situation on a cruise, but if you're flexible and willing to remove him from the dining room if he gets noisy, then go for it! We always bring our kids with us and would never leave them behind, so I know where you're coming from.

Also, remember that October is hurricane season in Mexico and it also gets pretty windy around that time too. Not to say you'll run into problems, but just be aware. There are still plenty of very hot, sunny days in October too. :)

We are on the October 2 sailing for the Sapphire. The ship is selling out quickly, and prices are going North.

Bruce: Did you book it?
