We will be on Galaxy March 17. We last sailed her New Years 2005 and while we noticed some items requiring attention, it did not affect our overall enjoyment. We did feel that the food was not up to the caliber of our Mercury cruise early in 2005.
We have picked Galaxy for the price and itinerary at this time, and also because after recent cruises on Crown Princess and Navigator of the Seas(of which I board again next week- but paid for by my company) we need a break from 3000 plus passengers. We are on Deck 12 inside, where we find the service to be a little better due to proximity to CC and Suites.
I am somewhat concerned about the recent deluge of bad press for this ship on this board and also CC. I thought that some changes had been made in the past 2 years, such as upgraded bedding and linens. Can anyone tell me if this is the case and if so what other items have been changed,. I know that there is a drydock in APril to attend to some items, but it is not an intensive retrofit by any means.
I am puzzled by Celebrity allowing their ships to fall into such disrepair. We have only sailed with them 3 times and that was all in the same year, and I can honestly say that our first cruise with them on Mercury was definitely the best. I guess nowadays if you want something special you really need to pay more.....
